The IMZ implant system incorporates stress-absorbing elements, such as theintramobile element (DME). There are varying reports regarding the characteristics of the DME :however, its effectiveness is still controversial.In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the stress-absorbing elements under dynamic loadingconditions, the stress-transfer characteristics around a single freestanding IMZ implant were inves-tigated with three types of internal elements : an DME made of polyoxymethylene, an intramobileconnector (IMC) consisting of a polyoxymethylene head and titanium screw, and a metal element(Metal-E) made of stainless steel.The vertical (10-kgf) and horizontal (2-kgf) dynamic forces applied to the surface of thesuperstructure and the strain values around the implant were measured with the strain gauges.The results were as follows :1. Under axial dynamic force, the three types of elements had no significant difference in thestresses around a single freestanding implant.2. Under vertical tilting dynamic forces, a more uniform stress around a single freestandingimplant was observed with IME and IMC than Metal-E.3. Under horizontal dynamic force, a more uniform stress around a single freestanding implantwas observed with DME and IMC than Metal-E.The stress-absorbing elements were significantly effective under the dynamic conditions, whilethey were not effective under the static conditions.

Recently, osseoizategrated dental implants have come to be used more and more in thetreatment of edentulism. Osseointegration has been found to achieve better results than fibroosseous integration : however, it has been suggested that excessive and/or concentrated stressesmay cause resorption of the surrounding bone.To address this problem, the IMZ implant system incorporates stress-absorbing elements, suchas the intramobile element (DME) . There are varying reports regarding the characteristics of theIME, however, and its effectiveness is still controversial.This study compares the stress-transfer characteristics around a single freestanding IMZimplant with three types of internal elements : an IME made of polyoxymethylene, an intramobileconnector (IMC) consisting of a polyoxymethylene head and titanium screw, and a metal element(Metal-E) made of stainless steel. An IMZ implant ( 75 4 X13 mm) and five strain gauges (KyowaInc.) around the implant were enxbedded in an acrylic resin block (3X3X3 cm). The vertical (10and 15 kgf) and horizontal (3 and 5 kgf) static forces applied to the surface of the superstructure andthe strain values around the implant were measured.The results are as follows :1. Under vertical forces, among the three types of elements no significant difference in thestresses around a single freestanding implant was found.2. Under horizontal forces, a more uniform stress around a single freestanding implant withthe Metal-E was observed. When using the DME, there was a greater stress concentration on theupper-oppressive side of the implant. The action of the IMC appeared to be midway between the IME and Metal-E. 3. The IME fractured after several applicatioins of 5-kgf horizontal force.

生体の筋活動をもとに顎関節部負荷を算出しうる生物力学的近似モデルを作成し,片側噛みしめ時の顎関節部負荷に影響を及ぼす各因子について解析した.1)左右筋力比が変化すると顎関節部負荷は大きく影響を受け,その負荷の絶対量は左右で逆転する可能性がある.2)筋合力の位置により後方に位置するに従って両側顎関節部に加わる負荷は増大し,その変化率は噛みしめ側顎関節が大きい.3)下顎頭間距離が大きくなるにつれて噛みしめ側と非噛みしめ側の顎関節部負荷の差は縮小するが,他の因子に比べてその影響は小さい.4)顎関節部負荷は歯列弓の幅によって影響を受け,歯列弓の幅が大きくなると非噛みしめ側の負荷が増加する.5)噛みしめ力を一定とした場合,咬合点の位置が後方に移るに従って両側顎関節に加わる圧縮力は減少し,特に噛みしめ側の負荷は,咬合点がある一定の限度を越えて後方に位置すると圧縮力から牽引力になる
