本研究課題では鳴海が米国を、浅輪がフランスを、井原がインドを、川久保がマレーシアを、大塚が豪州をそれぞれカウンターパートとして研究活動を実施した。以下に各研究実績の概要をまとめる。
鳴海はカウンターパートであるLBNLが主催するCool Building Solutions workshopにオンライン参加し、国際的な研究ネットワークをさらに拡張するとともに、世界各国の暑熱リスク軽減策の現状について調査した。また、日本と米国の地方自治体におけるヒートアイランド対策の現状比較や、WRFモデルによるヒートアイランド対策の費用便益評価などを実施した。年度内にはLBNLを訪問する予定であったが、コロナ禍の現状を鑑みて、渡米を取り止めとした。浅輪は昨年度に実施をしたフランス国立応用科学院リヨン校でのワークショップにおいて設定をした研究課題である大学キャンパスにおける暑熱リスク軽減策とヒートアイランド対策の効果検証を、数値シミュレーションにより実施した。リヨンと日本の双方の大学キャンパスで実施予定であったが、コロナ禍の現状に鑑み、今年度は東工大のキャンパスを対象に実施をした。井原は過去に東京、名古屋、ジャカルタ、デリーで実施した疫学調査を統合的に解析した。その結果、一般化加法モデルによる解析はある程度4都市に共通する特徴を抽出したが、東京あるいは名古屋での春秋の調査が新たに必要であることが示唆された。川久保は異なる気候、文化圏に位置する三都市（東京、ロンドン、クアラルンプール）の市民を対象に、暑熱環境への適応方法に関する多国間比較アンケート調査を実施した。大塚は年度内に豪州を訪問し、今後の共同研究活動について南サウスウェールズ大学の研究者と議論をする予定であったが、コロナ禍の現状を鑑みて、渡豪を取り止めとした。 -

This study investigated the relationship between people's values, other factors behind energy-saving behaviors and energy consumption in homes, based on the assumption that people's values are an integral part of their lifestyles and therefore act as guiding principles for their behavior. The results indicate the following. 1) Social, namely "self-transcendent", values lead to forming of a higher behavioral intention. But this influence weakens with the level of action actually taken, and even more so with the energy consumption. 2) Participation in local community activities could function as providing triggers of energy-saving behaviors. 3) Those who participate in such local activities among the residents of urban areas have "openness to change" values, representing independent/autonomous thoughts. But the proportion of such people is small on the whole. 4) Psychological attachment to local community could influence the switching behavior to newly established electric companies.
