We report on a pressure- (P-)induced evolution of superconductivity and spin correlations in CeIrIn5 via the In-115 nuclear-spin-lattice-relaxation rate measurements. We find that applying pressure suppresses dramatically the antiferromagnetic fluctuations that are strong at ambient pressure. At P=2.1 GPa, T-c increases to T-c=0.8 K, which is twice T-c (P=0 GPa), in the background of Fermi-liquid state. This is in sharp contrast to the previous case in which a negative, chemical pressure (replacing Ir with Rh) enhances magnetic interaction and increases T-c. Our results suggest that multiple mechanisms work to produce superconductivity in the same compound CeIrIn5.

We report Ge-73-NMR/NQR measurements on the itinerant ferromagnetic (FM) superconductor UGe2 at P = 1.2 GPa. The temperature (T) dependence of the nuclear spin lattice relaxation rate (1/T-1) at zero field has demonstrated the onset of the superconducting (SC) transition at T-c = 0.7 K. The lack of a coherence peak in 1/T-1 just below T-c, followed by a T-3-like behavior, provide compelling evidence for the unconventional nature of the SC state that coexists with the FM state on a microscopic scale in UGe2. We report systematic evolution of superconducting (SC) characteristic of heavy-fermion superconductor CeCoIn5 via the nuclear-quadrupole-resonance (NQR) measurement under pressure (P). The temperature dependence of nuclear spin - lattice relaxation rate (1/T-1) below T-C has revealed that once the value of SC energy gap (2 Delta(0)/k(B)T(C)) slightly increases in P<0.45 GPa, with further increasing P, it decreases significantly. By contrast, T-C increases monotonously up to 2.6 K as P increases up to 1 GPa, exhibiting a saturation in P = 1.0-1.5 GPa. (C) 2003 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.
