    2021年度から2022年度の活動は、「国吉型・対話探究モデル」を、(1)熊本地震で被災した油彩画作品の修復プロジェクトを通して「震災記憶と地域文化の継承」を試みる熊本県御船町、(2)元ハンセン病患者が制作したアート作品を展示する長島愛生園歴史館、(3)近代化による経済基盤の変化とその影響をアート施設の設置背景とする香川県直島などのアート施設。の3つ視点で導入するために、各アート作品とアートプロジェクトの対象作品の取材と分析、国吉型・対話探究モデルの予備実施であった。
    (1)から(3)のプロジェクト全ての作品を扱った「And Recovering Them そして、それらを回復する」を、岡山大学創立五十周年記念館と同附属中央図書館に会場を特設し開催。文化庁令和2年度第3次補正予算事業 ARTS for the future! コロナ禍を乗り越えるための文化芸術活動として、一般社団法人クニヨシパートナーズが主催し、この企画を国吉康雄研究寄付講座が担った。(1)熊本地震で被災した田中憲一作品と修復に関するパネルを展示。(2)長島愛生園で展示されることのない大型油彩画作品を複数展示。(3)島へのアート作品導入の背景を知るため、豊島事件(産業廃棄物不法投棄事件)に関する写真を、実寸代の大きさに引き伸ばし展示。関連する作品として直島に常設展示されている千住博作品のうち、直島展示と同シリーズ作品を展示。
    展覧会の構成は「国吉型・対話探究モデル」を会場内で実施することを前提に設計し、事前に同モデルを体験し、会場内で来客者に同プログラムを実施するワークショップや、参加者を一般公募し、岡山大学生と岡山県内外の社会人に対して、オンラインで同モデルの実践をした。結果、同モデルに対する発見や参加者の変化があり、有用性の確認をすることができた。2022年度の実施では母数を増やし、改善につなげていきたい。

    The purpose of this research is to create and publish a free-word searchable image database of the contents of various illustrations that appeared as models for copying and reference drawings in art and handicraft textbooks for primary and secondary education during the Meiji period, and to question the overall picture of these illustrations.
    The foundation and direction of the system were established by introducing IIIF to the sample version that had been available to the public since 2018, and as a result of the research, the "Modern Japanese Art and Handicraft Textbook Database" with a total of 142 titles and approximately 10,000 image data was fully operational at the end of 2021. The database has also enabled us to confirm cases in which the illustrations in the textbooks were linked to the names and knowledge of the objects depicted, traditional culture, and new findings in each subject area.

    In the early Meiji era, Okura Magobei started a publisher of Nishiki-e, and after that, he was active in a wide range of fields such as publishing, export, and ceramics. We focused on the nishiki-e he produced and gained new insights, especially on export nishiki-e. It was the first research to embody, evaluate, and position the person's activities within the framework of modern Japanese art history, and gained many new findings. And we got the opportunity to backfire the limits of the framework of modern Japanese art history, by concretely discussing the whole category of "miscellaneous goods" that he was involved in, that is, export art. Under the pandemic of covid-19, we made efforts to disseminate various information such as holding exhibitions, presenting at academic conferences, and publishing reports as a result disclosure.

    Through building a web-based database of images printed on school drawing textbooks in the Meiji era, this research aims at getting a whole understanding of the world of art education in the modernizing days in Japan. In the spread of a new style of westernized drawings and paintings, no other media is more influential than drawing textbooks because the number of distributed copies was far larger. Appreciating the significance, some seekers have collected original materials, the availability of which is, however, recognized only by a small number of researchers.
    As for the database open to public, two features can be emphasized. First, its specification is designed for easy expansions of contents, and some major collectors agreed to integrate their catalog into the database. Secondly, the image database implies more probabilities to be welcomed by researchers in wider fields, since the images in the Meiji-era textbooks are full of materials for representing the daily life at the time.

    Through the nationwide survey, our research team found that there are problems with setting goals and evaluations in art appreciation education. So, we created a rubric of art appreciation, conducted joint research with school teachers, held a practical report meeting at three locations throughout the country. At the same time, we completed 5000 copies of "Rubrics and guides for art appreciation" and delivered them to teachers nationwide through academic societies and research associations. In addition to presenting its achievements and issues as academic journal research papers, the conference's oral presentation was conducted four times.

    The board for the collaboration of schools and Okayama prefectural museum of art was launched in 2010. One of the missions of the board was to enlarge the population who can enjoy the museum's collection. Designing art travelling trunks and loaning them to local schools was found out to be the major solution. This research grant enable the board to achieve 4 kinds of accomplishments. That is, (1)version-up of the contents of the trunks, (2)more wider publicity of the trunk and the collection of the museum, (3)development of the network of school teachers through collaborative lesson studies, and (4)introduction of Japan's traditional culture to other Asian countries.

    Interdisciplinary ESD study plan based on the climate environment around East Asia and the variety of seasonal feeling there was developed, with the joint activity among climatology/meteorology, geology, music, Japanese classic literature and art. The study plan was also aimed to contribute to the earth science education and the cultural understanding education themselves. The present study firstly re-examined the tectonic environment around East Asia, seasonal cycle there with special attention to the features around the transition stage, and the seasonal feeling expressed in the various works of music, Japanese classic poems, art, and so on. Especially, the detailed comparison between early winter and early spring, and the variety of rainfall characteristics in the warm season there have been shown in the present study, together with the examination of the seasonal feeling then. The proposed ESD study plan consists of such results as the teaching materials.

    We developed a teaching model of art appreciation and visual aids based on works and authors that are listed in the "Guidebook of Japanese Art Appreciation 101" and "Guidebook of Western Art Appreciation 101". And we carried out practical research. Model classes categorized into 5 such as" Dialogue","Comparison","Art games","Mixed", and "ICT" were carried out at nursery schools, elementary and junior high schools, high schools, and the universities.     本研究の最終的な目的は,地球温暖化などに伴う地域気候の『変化の兆候』について(東アジアを例に),科学的視点と感覚的視点を双方向に駆使して,いち早く把握出来る『眼』を涵養するための教育プログラム開発にある。本年度は,前年度までの成果を更に発展させて取りまとめた。また,研究遂行の結果,気候変化を捉える際のベースとなる詳細な季節サイクル自体を把握する『眼』の育成が特に重要との認識が更に高まったので,その取り組みも重点的に行った。
    ドイツにおける5月の雨が子供を成長させるというモチーフの民謡は,気温が季節的に急昇温する時期(5月)の雨という意味が大きいことが,気象データも併せた分析によって示されるなど(論文掲載),日本の春との違いを比較できる格好の素材を提示した。一方,唱歌『朧月夜』を接点とした前年度の中学校での研究授業を分析し,春の温帯低気圧・移動性高気圧の周期的通過に伴う気象状況の特徴について,『朧月夜』の歌詞からもそれなりに的確にイメージ出来ており,気象データによる学習への活用の可能性が示唆された。
    また,『中間的な季節』にも踏み込んで,日本の季節サイクルと唱歌や絵画の鑑賞や色による季節の表現を軸に,学際的な研究授業を本年度も行い成果を分析した(岡大・教育学部,「くらしと環境」)(論文掲載)。更に,冬から春への進行に注目して,唱歌『早春賦』を軸に,その表現活動と気象・気候の特徴に関する学際的授業を,岡山城東高校で実施した。また,秋から冬への時期に注目し,日本海側での『時雨』を軸に,気象状況の把握と時雨を歌った和歌(新古今集等)の鑑賞に関する国語と連携した授業開発を行った。
    生物との連携に関しては,地球温暖化に関連するミナミアオカメムシの分布北上の実態,タマバエ類の発生期と寄主植物フェノロジーの同時性のずれなどについて研究成果を発表するとともに,本の分担執筆や各地での講演により,研究成果の普及に努めた。更に,房総半島や日本海側の海岸植生で,キク科植物に虫えいを形成するタマバエ類に関する分布調査を行い,分布北限等を確定した。一方,地球温暖化と日本付近の気候変化の昆虫への影響に関連して,昆虫類の年間世代数の増加,分布域の変化,昆虫と餌植物の同時性のずれ,高温による発育障害や繁殖障害,等,一筋縄ではいかない影響の絡み方を意識させるような研究授業を,岡大・教育学部の初等理科内容研究の講義で実施し,その成果や問題点を分析した(2011年5月に気象学会で発表予定)。
    なお,学校現場での参考になるよう,3年間の成果をまとめた冊子体の報告書も作成した。

    三年間の研究の最終年度である本年度は、美術館ワークショップの調査として、大原美術館の夏休み子ども向けイベントである、チルドレンズ・アート・ミュージアムの来館者を調査した。これは三年間の継続課題であり、総括作業を経たのちに、成果はおって報告する予定である。本調査により、美術館ワークショップ経営を実証的見地から改善支援をするという本課題の目的にとって、基礎的データが得られることが期待される。
    さらに本年度は、岡山大学の附属図書館と共同開催した子ども向けワークショップの総括事業に重点的に取り組んできた。同図書館では、池田家文庫と呼ばれる江戸時代の古書籍・絵図を多数収蔵している(研究代表者はその普及活動を企画する委員会に参加してきた)。連携協力者である、赤木里香子准教授(岡山大学)とともに、ワークショップ・プログラムの内容、広報体制、ワークショップ支援員としての大学生の教育などについて精査した結果をふまえて、国際美術教育学会(InSEA)と、岡山大学ユネスコチェア事業として開催されたシンポジウム(「文化財の複製を活用した教育普及を考える」)で問題提起し、討議をおこなった。
    先駆的な取りくみを見せる美術館のケース・スタディも三年間で蓄積が進んだ。昨年度までの訪問館に加え、名古屋市美術館、三重県立美術館、滋賀県立近代美術館、長崎県美術館などで教育普及活動実践から、今後のアウトリーチ活動のあり方について指針をえた。
    さらに本研究を通じて共同研究を深めてきた岡山県立美術館での動きとして、来年度より学校と美術館の連携関係構築のあり方を検討する委員会が立ち上がった。研究代表はその設立準備に関わるとともに、新たに立ち上がる委員会の委員に任じられることとなり、これまでの研究を踏まえた参画が可能となった。本研究の社会還元的な面での成果といえよう。

    In 2004, we tried to make some curriculum examples including appreciation of art works in Ohara Museum of Art and studio work, part of which was digital imaging. In 2005, we have given a typology designed for classifying art appreciation instructions. Two dichotomies are set. The first is to ask how instruction is made; do teachers get the appreciation of art works based on historical and cultural knowledge or students' own judgment? The second is to ask what the aim of instruction is; is it a preparation for making art works or a step for other kinds of broad activities. Combining the two dichotomies art appreciation instructions are divided into four types. The benefit of typology does not reside in categorizing function itself but making clear what the point of each instruction is. We also gave an example in which a certain art appreciation lesson unit is designed properly with typology.
    Along with creating and appreciating, the third activity should be set as a major object in art education; exhibiting. To make the interconnection of art making and art appreciation, we proposed the concept of curation. Curation is a process of identification and organization of artworks in order to make an exhibition, also it includes decision what things will be shown, verification and additions to the existing documentation for objects.
    In 2006, we have attempted to give the integrated lesson unit for Kohoku Junior High School students (8^<th> grader). In the lessons, we instructed students to build a miniature room with size-reduced pictures selected from a local museum's collection on the walls. It is a device for introducing "our own museum". Receiving feedbacks from "audiences", students are constantly refining exhibition plans and developing their skills to communicate various messages through artworks.
    During the term of research project, we hold workshops for in-service teachers' professional development.

    A survey was performed of the current practice of appreciation learning within drawing and construction and arts courses at Japanese elementary and middle schools nationwide. The results were totaled, and creation was made of a "Survey Report Regarding Appreciation Learning and Guidance within Drawing and Construction Courses and Arts Courses." In this way, a variety of aspects became clear : problem points in current art education at schools, the awareness of instructors concerning appreciation learning, the contents, methods, and evaluations of appreciation learning, and the current status and problem points of university education curriculum designed to foster new teachers. Also, in the questionnaire section called "Open statements," one can read various worries and the true sentiments of teachers regarding their classes ; in this way, this Report serves as fundamental reference material that helps to close the gap between theory and practice.
    On the basis of the above-described Report, persons in charge of subordinate research each made progress in research founded on their own issues of interest, and the results were gathered successfully in presentations at various academic conferences and in contributions to scholarly journals, etc. This varied research was pursued bearing in mind, of course, aspects of school education that are necessary for curriculum creation for appreciation learning within drawing and construction and arts courses, yet also under a broad perspective that considered lifelong learning, infant education, and education in arts such as calligraphy, etc.
    Further, the scope was not limited only to appreciation education in Japan. From the perspective of ascertaining current information about appreciation education within East Asia and to foster research exchanges, Korean researchers were invited focus on "appreciation." Therein, while also reporting on the historical background of Japanese appreciation education, the current status of related school education in Japan, and other key topics, the issues shared by both countries, as well as their differences, became clarified.
    In addition, for the development of curriculum models for appreciation learning, cases were collected, and further was research performed regarding appreciation learning chiefly at elementary and middle schools. Here, an attempt was made to construct curriculum models based on such case-based research. For improved model creation, research must be performed on the basis of a further increase in actual cases of appreciation learning, and the appropriateness of models must be validated.

    A comparative study has done on the transformation of higher education institutions in US and Japan, focusing on their strengthening of the cultural distribution function. To test the hypothesis that higher education institution should come to distribute arts and sport events directly to the community, research projects below have implemented
    1 Research in the field of fine arts
    (1) Art museums attached to the UCLA and Yale University, which are leading institutions in cultural distribution, are selected for a case-study. Especially in Yale, its services to support school education are intensively examined. (2) By research on federal art agencies and the Getty museum, the transformation of America's art museums into educating institutions is analyzed (3) Interviews in four institutions and survey on the existing materials are conducted to review the trend of the expansion of the fine arts in Japan's universities since 1980.
    2 Research in the field of sport
    (1) Two institutions are selected for a case-study. Yale university has leaded America's college sporting culture since its beginning and our research focus is on the financial position of the sport department in relation to the whole management strategy. Springfield College has extended new sporting cultures and philosophies nationwide and our research focus is on the mission unique to the college. (2) Questionnaire has sent to local governments in Japan to survey the current trend in haw they promote sport toward learning society, how they manage partnership with local colleges and universities, and so on. (3) A monographic research has done on the transformation process of Western-rooted sporting culture in an institution in Japan.
    3 Suggestion for further research
    Short interview conducted in Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute shows further research direction. This institution is an embodiment of the Yale system for in-service teacher training. Japan's universities readily provide and extend professional development services for teachers.

    日本における毛筆画教育時代の成立と同時期、すなわち1880年代末から90年代にかけて、欧米では児童研究運動(Child Study Movement)が興り、子どもの内的世界を捉える有力な手がかりとして、彼らが手本を見ずに自発的に描く絵、いわゆる児童画が注目され始め、その美的特質が原始美術に類比されるに至った。イギリスの美術教師エベネザ-・クック(Ebenezer Cook)が1885年に初めて示した描画発達段階は、J・サリ-(James Sully)著『児童期の研究』(1895年)にも取り入れられ、広く知られるところとなった。このような動向は、教育ジャーナリズムを通じて日本にも伝わった。1898(明治31)年に創刊された『児童研究』誌には、考古学者や心理学者による、子どもの落書きや自由に描いた絵の収集・分析に関する報告、比較文化研究の材料として児童画を募る、外国からの依頼文などが掲載され、児童画への関心が学際的かつ国際的なものであったことをうかがわせる。
    1900〜1910年代、義務教育制度の成立とともに、学齢期の子どもを対象とする児童博覧会が各地で開かれ、児童画が展示される機会も増え、小学校の図画教育が臨画に偏っていることを批判する意見も、しばしば聞かれるようになった。図画教育改革の気運がたかまるなか、1903(明治36)年に結成された研究団体「図画教育会」の機関誌『図画教育』においても、描画指導の重点を臨画から写生へ移そうとする傾向が現れている。しかし、これは子どもの自由な表現形式を尊重したためとは言えず、写生における描画能力を伸ばすことが最重要視され、臨画は写生の前段階の練習にすぎないと考えられたためと言えよう。さらに、同会の唱える「教育的図画」においては、目的や指導過程における位置づけが曖昧なまま、このような練習、つまり臨画の必要性がかえって強調される結果となった。自由画教育運動は、このような状況に対する反動として呼び起こされたものと考えられる。
