    I研究の目的
    障害があることにより、種々の困難が生じ、その能力を十分に伸ばす上で配慮が必要な児童生徒については、従来特殊教育の対象として、特別の場において専門的な指導が行われてきた。平成19年度より、従来の特殊教育から特別支援教育へと制度が転換し、小中学校等においても障害のある児童の就学が制度的にも可能となった。視覚障害のある児童生徒、とりわけ点字を常用する児童生徒も、少数とはいえ小中学校等に学ぶケースがあり、既に視覚特別支援学校(以下盲学校とする)は特別支援教育や学習指導要領で謳われているセンター的機能にいち早く取り組んできた。しかし教材教具を小中学校に提供することは、財政的、物理的理由から困難が多く、これまで点訳教材等に限って提供されてきた。本研究では、従来の点字印刷による点訳教材に加え、触地図や触図等の立体教材を、小中学校で学習する視覚障害のある児童生徒に対して効果的に提供する教材作製・提供機能の構築を試行し、その検証を行うことを目的とした。
    II研究の方法
    特別支援学校(盲学校)小学部で教育相談を行った視覚以外に障害のない盲児10名及びその保護者に対して、現在どのような教材について整備されているか、また、どのような教材についての整備が必要かについても聞き取り調査を行った。また、調査結果から得られた教材のニーズに基づき、立体教材等を試行的に作製し、それを活用した支援を試行的に実施した。
    III結果
    調査からは、提供されている教材は点字教材に限定されることがほとんどであり、実物教材や立体教材の提供例はほとんどなかった。小学校等在籍する視覚に障害のある児童に実物教材や立体教材を提供する教材部門を、視覚特別支援学校を核として設置する必要性が示唆された。また、本研究において試行的に作製された視覚障害者用立体教材を活用した支援を実際に行った結果、教材作製・提供部門による視覚障害のある児童生徒の支援の有効性が示唆された。
