This paper presents a performance analysis in steady-state and transient-state of auxiliary resonant commutation snubber (ARCS)-linked three phase voltage source soft switching PFC rectifier with a digital control scheme which is suitable for high power applications as compared with three phase hard switching PFC rectifier. The system performances of this soft-switching PFC rectifier are illustrated and evaluated on the basis of the experimental results.

In this paper, an efficient power electronic circuit simulation approach is discussed for a digitally controlled three phase active PFC converter system. The control circuit simulation software used in this simulation technique is also applied to the digital signal processor (DSP) based control implementation of a practical power factor correction (PFC) power conversion circuit with a digital control scheme. This circuit simulation technique is based on a circuit equation modeled by substituting control input dependent time-varying resistors in place of all the power switches incorporated in the bridge arms of the three phase active PFC converter circuit and system treated here, one state-vector equation described by state-variables for inductors and capacitors, together with an algebraic computation method to transform the matrix of the circuit equation into matrix of the state vector equation. In addition, this paper proves the effectiveness of a voltage-fed three phase PFC converter with a digital control PWM strategy and its performance evaluations on the basis of computer-aided simulation results together with experimental results.

This paper presents performance evaluations in steady and transient-states of quasi-resonant commutated bridge arm link three phase PFC rectifier with instantaneous power feedback and DC output voltage regulation loops. This three phase PFC rectifier topology is based upon digitally-modulated sinewave space vector processing, which can operate under a principle of ZVS-PWM transition due to auxiliary quasi-resonant commutation circuit incorporated into each three phase bridge arm. In the first place, a practical design of auxiliary resonant commutation circuit with current source type load model is graphically described on the basis of its state variable analysis. In the second place, the digital control system of three phase voltage-fed soft-switched PWM converter suitable and acceptable for high power utility applications is implemented on the synchronous rotating d-q coordinate axis. Finally, a novel prototype of this three phase PFC rectifier operating at soft-switching PWM strategy is evaluated as compared with hard switching PWM three phase PFC rectifier in terms of computer-aided simulation results.

This paper presented three versions of phase-shifted soft-switching PWM with constant frequency or load-adaptive PFM series resonant inverter topologies. Constant frequency phase-shifted inverter is widely used for high power applications. But soft-switching operation is not realized, operating frequency range is limited to around 20 kHz. To introduce load-adaptive PFM control, lossless capacitors, lossless inductors, switching losses and stresses are much reduced and frequency limit is extended more than 100 kHz for IGBTs for example. These inverters are suit for induction-heating applications in metal electroheat processing plants, food cooking processing plants, hot water and hot gas producing processing plants.

Solar energy is more attractive and acceptable as one of available power sources in future from a view point of a clean and inexhaustible power supply. However, the electric power generated from a solar photovoltaic array largely depends on weather conditions. Therefore a constant mechanical power can not be obtained from one motor which is driven on the basis of the electric power from a solar photovoltaic array. In order to produce a stable mechanical power, the authors propose the parallel operation system using two induction machines.<br>This paper presents on the stability of the proposed system in which the machine A is related to a solar phtovoltaic array coupled with a general purpose inverter and another machine B is interconnected directly to the utility-grid AC line. It is shown that the system can generate a stable mechanical power with cooperation of the machine B even if the output power of the machine A becomes zero. Furthermore the operating frequency of the inverter is determined by utilizing the relation of the maximum power and the optimal operating voltage of a solar photovoltaic array. As a result, the output power of the machine A becomes always a maximum value under variable weather conditions.

An Optimal controller for a servo system with a manipulator is developed. The emphasis is on the minimization of the overall energy consumption of the system. The optimum current function is obtained under the minimization criteria of the consumption energy for a manipulator under gravity conditions and otherwise. The solution to the two-point-boundary-value-problem is obtained by using the Generalized Newton-Raphson method. Further when the link of the manipulator is decelerated, the generated electric power from the motor is stored in a condenser. This is achieved while supplying the optimal current by using a DC Chopper circuit. It is shown from experiment that the efficiency of energy storage is improved by increasing the capacitance of the condensers. The overall energy is shown to decrease by this method.
