    Background/Objectives: Deep inspiration breath-hold (DIBH) is a commonly used technique to reduce the mean heart dose (MHD), which is critical for minimizing late cardiac side effects in breast cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy (RT). Although previous studies have explored the potential of machine learning (ML) to predict which patients might benefit from DIBH, none have rigorously assessed ML model performance across various MHD thresholds and parameter settings. This study aims to evaluate the robustness of ML models in predicting the need for DIBH across different clinical scenarios. Methods: Using data from 207 breast cancer patients treated with RT, we developed and tested ML models at three MHD cut-off values (240, 270, and 300 cGy), considering variations in the number of independent variables (three vs. six) and folds in the cross-validation (three, four, and five). Robustness was defined as achieving high F2 scores and low instability in predictive performance. Results: Our findings indicate that the decision tree (DT) model demonstrated consistently high robustness at 240 and 270 cGy, while the random forest model performed optimally at 300 cGy. At 240 cGy, a threshold critical to minimize late cardiac risks, the DT model exhibited stable predictive power, reducing the risk of overestimating DIBH necessity. Conclusions: These results suggest that the DT model, particularly at lower MHD thresholds, may be the most reliable for clinical applications. By providing a tool for targeted DIBH implementation, this model has the potential to enhance patient-specific treatment planning and improve clinical outcomes in RT.

    Abstract

    A dentinogenic ghost cell tumor (DGCT) is a rare benign odontogenic tumor that commonly shows characteristics of solid proliferation and has a relatively high risk of recurrence after surgical treatment. We herein report a case of a central DGCT that occurred in the maxilla and resulted in bone expansion. This study highlights new imaging findings (particularly magnetic resonance imaging) along with histopathological observations. In addition, we conducted a review of the existing literature on this rare tumor. A 37-year-old man developed swelling around the right cheek. A benign odontogenic tumor such as ameloblastoma was suspected based on the imaging examination findings (including bone expansion and the internal characteristics of the tumor) on panoramic imaging, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. The lesion was surgically excised from the right maxilla. Postoperative histopathological examination led to a definitive diagnosis of central DGCT. The tumor comprised epithelial neoplastic islands, resembling ameloblastoma, inside tight fibroconnective tissue; masses of ghost cells and formation of dentin were also observed. We had suspected that the minute high-density region around the molars on the imaging examinations represented alveolar bone change; however, it represented dentin formation. This led to difficulty diagnosing the lesion. Although DGCT may present characteristic findings on imaging examinations, its occurrence is infrequent, and in some cases, the findings may include the presence or absence of an impacted tooth without obvious calcification. The present case suggests that we should consider the possibility of an odontogenic tumor with calcification when high-density structures are observed inside the lesion.

    Cisplatin is a platinum-based compound that is widely used for treating inoperable oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) in Japan; however, resistance to cisplatin presents a challenge and innovative approaches are required. We aimed to investigate the therapeutic potential of targeting the chemokine receptor CXCR4, which is involved in angiogenesis and tumor progression, using the CXCR4 inhibitor AMD3100, in combination with cisplatin. AMD3100 induced necrosis and bleeding in OSCC xenografts by inhibiting angiogenesis. We investigated the combined ability of AMD3100 plus cisplatin to enhance the antitumor effect in cisplatin-resistant OSCC. An MTS assay identified HSC-2 cells as cisplatin-resistant cells in vitro. Mice treated with the cisplatin-AMD combination exhibited the most significant reduction in tumor volume, accompanied by extensive hemorrhage and necrosis. Histological examination indicated thin and short tumor vessels in the AMD and cisplatin–AMD groups. These results indicated that cisplatin and AMD3100 had synergistic antitumor effects, highlighting their potential for vascular therapy of refractory OSCC. Antitumor vascular therapy using cisplatin combined with a CXCR4 inhibitor provides a novel strategy for addressing cisplatin-resistant OSCC.

    Abstract

    Objectives

    This study examined the imaging characteristics of cosmetic surgery-derived foreign bodies in the maxillofacial region through a retrospective review of cosmetic material foreign bodies incidentally detected on computed tomography (CT) images in routine clinical practice.

    Methods

    We retrospectively investigated cases of cosmetic surgery-derived foreign bodies other than dental materials in the maxillofacial region, using 5 years of CT image data stored on an imaging server. The imaging findings of these foreign bodies were investigated, along with patient age, patient sex, whether the foreign bodies were associated with the disease targeted by the CT scan, and the availability of cosmetic surgery information prior to examination.

    Results

    Foreign bodies were more common in women (19/21 cases), and affected patients displayed a wide age range (20–84 years). Four types of cosmetic surgery-derived foreign bodies in the maxillofacial region were detected by CT examination: nasal prostheses (nasal region), lifting sutures and injectable facial fillers (both in the buccal region), and silicone chin implants (chin region).

    Conclusions

    A cosmetic surgery-derived foreign body should be suspected when a foreign body is identified without a dental source of infection. In addition, cosmetic surgery-derived foreign bodies may be present in numerous patients, regardless of age or sex.

    A collision tumor refers to the coexistence of two diagnostically distinct tumors in a common anatomic space. Collision tumors are rare in the oral and maxillofacial region. The present study reported on the case of an 82-year-old female with a collision tumor in the maxillary sinus consisting of small cell carcinoma (SmCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Computed tomography (CT) imaging revealed a mass in the right maxillary sinus. The lesion exhibited heterogeneous low signal intensity (SI) on T1-weighted imaging (T1WI), high SI on short T1 inversion recovery and heterogeneous solid enhancement on contrast-enhanced T1WI. The histopathology result of a biopsy specimen confirmed SmCC. After the patient received a course of chemoradiotherapy, follow-up CT revealed a residual tumor. In a second surgery, a remaining tumor and histopathology revealed SCC with no evidence of SmCC. The final diagnosis was a collision tumor made up of SCC and SmCC.

    OBJECTIVES: To examine the diagnostic usefulness and procedures of ultrasonography (US) for mass lesions in the soft tissue of the oral region. METHODS: This study involved patients with mass lesions (tumorous lesions and cysts) who had undergone US and histopathological examinations from January 2017 to December 2019. The following points were evaluated by two observers using an evaluation scale: vascularity, echo intensity level, boundary, margin shape, distribution of internal echoes, and capsule. The usefulness of each point for differential diagnosis of tumorous lesions and cysts was statistically analyzed. RESULTS: Forty-five mass lesions in the soft tissue of the oral region (33 tumorous lesions and 12 cysts) were analyzed. There were significant differences in four evaluation points between the tumorous lesions and cysts: vascularity, echo intensity level, boundary, and margin shape. Cysts were almost completely excluded diagnostically, especially when vascularity was observed. There were also significant differences in two evaluation points between nonvascular tumorous lesions and cysts: echo intensity level and boundary. CONCLUSIONS: In US examination for mass lesions in the oral region, it was possible to diagnose tumorous lesions and exclude cysts when vascularity was observed. When vascularity was not observed, however, tumorous lesions and cysts could be identified using two evaluation points: echo intensity level and boundary.

    Purpose: To focus on the effects of the presence of mesiodens on adjacent teeth and to investigate the timing of its safe removal. Materials and Methods: Cone-beam computed tomography examinations, obtained at Okayama University Hospital over a three-year period, were inspected. Data were recorded including the number of mesiodens; associated abnormalities; and the relationship with neighboring structures. Depending on multiple factors, the risk of developing complications due to early extraction of a mesiodens was divided into three categories: high, medium, and low risk. Results: A total of 5,958 cone-beam computed tomography exams were obtained, 460 patients aged 3-85 years were diagnosed with a total of 568 mesiodens, 382 (67.3%) of which were discovered in young patients (age <10 years), and 333 (87.2%) of these were associated with abnormalities. Regarding the risk categories, 11 (1.9%) were considered to be in the high-risk, five (0.9%) in the medium-risk and 552 (97.2%) in the low-risk categories. Moreover, eight out of 11 high-risk mesiodens were extracted and no post-operative complications have been seen. Conclusion: As the results showed that no postoperative complications were seen in all the extracted cases of high-risk mesiodens, this indicates the possibility of safe extraction at an early age which could reduce related future complications.

    OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of Hounsfield unit (HU) assessment with multislice-CT in the differentiation of radicular cysts (RCs), dentigerous cysts (DCs) and odontogenic keratocysts (OKCs). METHODS: In total, 307 odontogenic cysts (RCs, DCs and OKCs) were included in this study. Cysts with lesion diameter <10 mm, cysts with artefacts affecting measurement of HU values, cysts involving infection and recurrent cysts were regarded as exclusion criteria. Images were acquired in three different types of CT scanners: Aquilion ONE, Discovery CT750 HD and SOMATOM Definition Flash. Differences in HU values among scanners and among types of odontogenic cysts were assessed using one-way analysis of variance; multiple comparisons were performed post hoc, using the Tukey-Kramer honestly significant difference test. RESULTS: In total, 164 cysts were analysed in this study (64 RCs, 57 DCs and 43 OKCs). Regardless of the type of lesion, the Aquilion ONE scanner demonstrated a significant difference in HU value, compared with the Discovery CT750 HD scanner. Regardless of CT scanner model, HU values significantly differed between DCs and OKCs (p < 0.0001), as well as between OKCs and RCs (p < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS: HU values were found to vary among CT scanners and should always be associated with other lesion imaging features while interpreting and elaboration diagnostic hypothesis. Notably, the results suggested that OKCs might be able to be differentiated from DCs and RCs by using HU values.

    OBJECTIVES: This systematic literature review addresses the use of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) for the evaluation of benign maxillomandibular odontogenic lesions. STUDY DESIGN: Databases were searched, and original research studies or case report manuscripts up to April 2019 were included, using the keyword "diffusion," combined with the keywords "maxillofacial pathology," "oral pathology," "odontogenic tumors," "dental tissue neoplasms," "odontogenic cysts," and the histologic denomination of benign odontogenic lesions, according to the World Health Organization classification. Only English language articles and studies pertaining to DWI were selected. RESULTS: Fifteen investigations (11 original articles and 4 case reports) of distinct benign odontogenic lesions were included. Most studies did not include exclusively odontogenic lesions in their samples. CONCLUSIONS: It is too early to reach a conclusion that DWI and ADC can provide useful information in the differentiation of the histologic type of some benign odontogenic lesions on the basis of available data in the literature.

    OBJECTIVES: The aim of this systematic literature review was to focus on the use of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI) in the evaluation of salivary gland diseases. STUDY DESIGN: Databases were searched, and original research manuscripts up to 2018 were identified by using the keywords "diffusion" combined with "salivary gland," "salivary gland neoplasm," "sialadenitis," "parotid gland," "submandibular gland," "sublingual gland," "minor salivary gland," "salivary gland fistula," "salivary gland calculi," "salivary ducts," "xerostomia," and "sialorrhea." Only English language manuscripts and studies pertaining to DWI were selected. RESULTS: In all, 66 investigations regarding various salivary gland diseases, such as neoplasms, postirradiation changes, and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, were included. Most study objectives involved the use of the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) in differentiating between benign lesions and malignant neoplasms. Histologic features of evaluated samples were heterogeneous. CONCLUSIONS: DWI may improve the differential diagnosis of salivary gland diseases, particularly in distinguishing between benign and malignant neoplasms. A unique ADC cutoff value could not be established because of the heterogeneity of the methods applied for ADC assessment and the heterogeneity of the diseases. DWI and the ADC are valuable tools in the diagnosis of salivary gland disease.

    Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the radiographic aspects of the major salivary glands in sialography and their grade of inflammation with patients’ individual characteristics. Methods: A total of 30 radiographic images of both parotid and submandibular glands from 25 patients, who underwent sialography examinations, were retrospectively analyzed. Chi-squared test was performed to correlate the grade of inflammation of each area of the salivary glands with the categorical variables: sex, type and side of the affected gland. Pearson correlation was performed to correlate the grade of inflammation between the main duct and the intraglandular duct and the parenchyma. Results: There was no statistically significant relationship between the grade of inflammation of any of the parts of the salivary glands and the categorical variables in the Chi-squared test (p&gt;0.05). The grade of inflammation in the main duct had a weak correlation with the degree of inflammation in the intraglandular duct (p&lt;0.05). Conclusions: Salivary glands affected by obstruction or inflammation are not significantly related to the sex of patients, not to the type or side of the affected gland. The , but sialography examination demonstrated the delicate anatomy of the ductal system and allowed an accurate visualization of sialoliths and strictures that are two of the most common causes of obstruction, showing its important role in the assessment of salivary gland status.

    PURPOSE: The prevalence of supernumerary teeth has been reported to be between 0.1% and 3.8%. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence, clinical significance, and associated pathologies of fourth molars based on a retrospective study and a literature review. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A 5-year retrospective prevalence study was conducted at the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Dentomaxillofacial Radiology of Okayama University Hospital, Okayama, Japan. The study involved extracting data from the digital records of patients from January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2017. The sampling frame included all patients who had panoramic radiographs, cone-beam computed tomography (CT), and multislice CT images during the period under review. RESULTS: A total of 26,721 cases were reviewed and 87 fourth molars were identified. The prevalence of fourth molars in the 5-year study at Okayama was calculated as 0.32%. The mean age of patients with a fourth molar was 30.43 years, and the male-to-female ratio was 1:0.98. The vast majority of cases were in the maxilla (92%) and had normal shapes (89.7%); furthermore, 82.8% of cases were unerupted. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of fourth molars in the study population was found to be 0.32%, and fourth molars occurred with approximately equal frequency in males and females. Fourth molars were more common in the maxilla and were predominantly unerupted and small.

    Chronic periapical lesion is among the most usual bone pathology observed in human teeth, and it is often first detected by plain radiographs, such as panoramic or periapical radiography. Plain radiographs are widely used in dentistry; however, they have limitations inherent to the technique itself, such as anatomic structures overlapping and lack of information on the extension of the lesion. Therefore, three-dimensional radiographic methods, such as cone beam computed tomography are valuable to accurately assess periapical lesions. Thus, this clinical report describes a case in which the bone radiographic features led to a primary diagnosis of chronic periapical lesion in superior incisors, however, it was a defect in the palatal bone. The resulting radiolucency created by the palatal bone defect overlapped the maxillary bone, mimicking a periapical lesion. Additionally, in the same case, we demonstrate a true chronic periapical lesion in another area that presented as a subtle radiolucency in periapical radiography, however, it was larger than expected when evaluated in Cone Beam Computed Tomography.

    BACKGROUND: We herein described a rare case of schwannoma of the hypoglossal nerve in the submandibular region with diagnostic imaging and histopathological findings. CASE REPORT: A 31-years-old woman has had a palpable firm, rubbery, freely mobile mass in the submandibular region. Of imaging, MR images showed homogeneous isointensity on T1-weighted imaging (T1-WI), heterogeneous hypointensity on T2-WI, heterogeneous hyperintensity on short T1 inversion recovery (STIR), and heterogeneous enhancement on contrast-enhanced T1-WI. A clear capsule was observed on the margin and showed hypointense on T2-WI. Dynamic MRI showed heterogeneous gradual increased enhancement. The uptake of contrast medium was regionally slow. Diagnostic imaging using CT and MRI was suspected of salivary gland tumor or neurogenic tumor. In consideration of imaging diagnosis, a pleomorphic adenoma or a schwannoma was suspected. Final diagnosis was confirmed on the basis of histopathological finding and intraoperative findings. CONCLUSION: 1. Histopathologic examination is inevitable, because MR findings are not specific.2. Schwannomas were said to have specific MRI properties, including specific signs (split-fat sign, fascicular sign, target sign). However, they are not always observed.3. This case confirmed the differential diagnosis on the basis of the intraoperative finding that the tumor was continuous with the hypoglossal nerve.

    OBJECTIVES: To compare MRI manifestations according to gender and age and to identify correlations between clinical manifestations and MRI findings in patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD) as based on a large series. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Fat suppressed oblique sagittal images of the open and closed mouth were acquired, and MRI scanning parameters were applied. RESULTS: The patients consisted of 946 females (average, 36.6 years old), and 319 males (average, 34.3 years old). In all TMD patients, 945 had symptoms in the unilateral temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and 320 in the bilateral TMJ. There were significant differences in the distribution of disk positions based on age, regardless of gender, in the unilaterally and bilaterally symptomatic groups; however, the results were not significant in the asymptomatic group. There were significant differences with respect to the distribution of disk positions between males and females in asymptomatic group and in the unilaterally symptomatic group, although the bilaterally symptomatic group did not show significant differences in this regard. As regards the disk positions in the joints of the three groups (asymptomatic group, unilaterally and bilaterally symptomatic groups), there were significant interactive effects of disk positions, regardless of gender. There were statistically significant age-related differences in disk deformities in all symptom groups, regardless of gender, except for in the group of males lacking symptoms in either joint. As regards disk deformities among the three groups studies here, there were significant interactive effects for disk positions, regardless of gender.

    Odontoma is the most common type of benign odontogenic tumor, and often causes disturbances in the eruption of its associated tooth. Odontomas usually occur in the permanent dentition, and rarely occur solely in the primary dentition. This case report documents a six-year-old-child with a compound odontoma located in the mandible, which caused the impaction of the primary second molar.

    Forensic individual identification is important in times of major disaster. We focused on mandibular angle as dental individual identification. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between the mandibular angle obtained by three-dimensional reconstruction of CT images taken for medical use and the age.
    Mandibular angle between mandibular base and mandibular posterior edge is obtuse in neonates. The angle of the mandibular angle gradually became acute, showing 110° to 125° in adults, and it was predicted that the angle would become obtuse again with age thereafter. However, no clear results were obtained in this study. It is presumed that the individual differences are too large.

    Cetuximab is a monoclonal antibody targeting epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and is effective for tumors with overexpression of EGFR. It was originally used for metastatic colorectal cancer, but since the overexpression of EGFR is seen in 80-100% of head and neck cancer (HNC), antitumor effect is also expected in HNC. In this study, we have assessed the antitumor effect of Cetuximab treatment using 9 oral cancer cell lines, with regard to BRAF, KRAS, NRAS, PIK3CA mutation status. We found no mutation in the mutation hot spots of BRAF gene , KRAS gene, NRAS gene. We also evaluated 5 well-known hot spots of PIK3CA gene, E542K and H1047R mutations of PIK3CA gene were observed in Ca9-22 and HSG cells. BALB/c-nu mouse transplanted with PIK3CA mutated HSG cells showed in lower sensitivity for Cetuximab. The results suggest that E542K mutation of PIK3CA could be used as a screening test to evaluate the sensitivity of HNC to Cetuximab.

    Tumor volume amount, tumor weight, survival rate and FDG-PET imaging were analyzed until death in mice in the drug non-medicated control group and the KNK437 administration group. The improvement in tumor volume amount and survival rate was not observed in the KNK administration group compared with the control group.
    Bio distribution results by gamma counter showed a small amount of FDG accumulation in the tumor and lung in the KNK group compared with in the control group. New anticancer agents KNK437 was suggested to have the antitumor effect in tumor increase and lung metastasis inhibitory effect in in vivo.

    In recent years, it has become clear that the hyperplasia of ablood vessel and the hyperplasia of a lymph vessel have correlation in a cancer. Cancer cells are metastasized through a lymph vessel. Then, since dynamic CE-MRI can perform the diagnostic imaging reflecting the blood flow in a tumor, the hyperplasia of the lymph vessel in a cancer was evaluated by dynamic CE-MRI. Correlation positive in dynamic CE-MRI and the number of the blood vessels in a tumor on a pathology specimen was shown. Moreover, although positive correlation was shown also between the number of the blood vessels in a tumor on a pathology specimen and the number of lymph vessels, correlation was not shown between dynamic CE-MRI and the number of lymph vessels on a pathology specimen. However, the significant difference was shown between dynamic CE- MRI of the primary lesion with lymph-nodes metastasis group and with non- lymph-nodes metastasis group.

    The histopathological prognostic factors, tumor proliferation and microvessel density (MVD) showed significant correlations with enhancement parameters in dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The assessment of DCE-MRI parameters may prove to be a valuable non-invasive method for assessing tumor cell proliferation and MVD of patients with oral cancer.

    造影剤を静脈から速やかに注入し,目的部位について造影剤流入時の時間的変化を画像化したものがdynamic CE-MRIである。唾液腺腫瘍の中でも高頻度に認められる良性腫瘍の多形性腺腫とワルチン腫瘍および悪性腫瘍の粘表皮癌と腺様嚢胞癌において、このdynamic CE-MRIが鑑別に有用であった研究結果を英文雑誌に報告した(Oral Oncol. 2007 43(9):940-7)。ワルチン腫瘍は、急増・急減の特異的な造影効果を現し、診断学上、重要な結果を得られた。また、dynamic CE-MRIのパラメーターのうち、Tmax(最も高い造影効果の値を示した時間)とWashout ratio(造影剤の排出の割合)が診断に有用であった。

    Object: The presence of regional metastatic lymph nodes in patients with oral cancer alter the treatment and the
    prognosis. Ultrasound, CT and MRI are useful tools for diagnosing of regional metastatic lymph nodes which is evaluated by morphological factors such as the shape, size and numbers. The accuracy of morphological factors is high but incomplete. The enhanced pattern of dynamic MRI correlated with intratumor angiogenesis, which corresponds closely to tumor growth. To provide additional information for diagnosis of regional lymph nodes, we investigated the relationship between the enhanced patterns acquired by dynamic MRI of metastatic lymph nodes and that of non-metastatic lymph nodes in oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Methods: Twenty patients with primary oral SCC underwent dynamic MRI using three dimensional fast imaging with steady-state precession (FISP) sequence. The enhanced pattern of dynamic MRI of regional lymph nodes and morphological findings were acquired. The relationship between the enhanced pattern and morphological findings was analyzed. In the same patients, the relationship between the enhanced pattern of metastatic lymph nodes and non-metastatic lymph nodes was also analyzed. Results: Regarding the diagnosis for metastatic lymph nodes, morphological findings were more accurate than the enhanced pattern of dynamic MRI. There was no correlation between morphological findings and enhanced pattern of dynamic MRI. In the same patients, the metastatic lymph nodes were showed similar enhanced pattern to the primary site. On the other hand the enhanced pattern of non-metastatic lymph nodes was not similar to that of metastatic lymph and/or that of primary site. Conclusion: Dynamic MRI appeared to improve the evaluation of regional metastatic lymph nodes.

    岡山大学歯学部附属病院を受診した外来・入院患者の内、顎口腔領域の腫瘍性疾患、嚢胞性疾患が疑われた患者を対象とし、研究の内容を十分説明し、同意を得ることができた患者のMRIを撮像した。また、同意の得られた患者には造影剤を使用して、MRIの造影像、dynamic-MRIを施行した。
    唾液腺腫瘍においては、昨年Warthin's tumorsは確定できることを報告した(Oral Oncol.2002 Jun;38(4):369-72)。今年度は、良性唾液腺腫瘍において最も頻度の高いpleomorphic adenomasのdynamic-MRIおよびMRIについての報告を行った(Oral Oncol.2003 Sep;39(6):574-9)。良性唾液腺腫瘍において最も頻度の高いpleomorphic adenomas、次に頻度の高いWarthin's tumorsについての報告はできたが、悪性唾液腺腫瘍については、症例数が足りず報告には至らなかった。
    歯原性嚢胞、非歯原性嚢胞のMRIについては、病変6種類の特徴をまとめて、報告した(Eur J Radiol.2003 Nov;48(2):178-82)。歯原性嚢胞、非歯原性嚢胞の6種類に関しては、MRIの造影像を施行することによる追加情報は得られなかったため、確定できた場合には、造影MRIは不必要と考えられた。
    また、顎口腔領域において最も頻度の高い悪性腫瘍であるsquamous cell carcinomaのdynamic-MRIについても報告した(Oral Oncol.2003 Apr;39(3):290-5)。

    Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) is useful for differential diagnosis of some tumors and it has been used to identify the differences between benign and malignant tumors. We have also shown characteristic features of several lesions using DCE-MRI in head and neck regions as follows,
    1) In the sublingual tumors, the DCE-MRI may be useful in differentiating malignant from benign tumors, and in detecting the extent of the tumors in the sublingual carcinomas.
    2) In the solitary bone cyst, DCE-MRI can provide useful information for distinguishing solitary bone cysts from other cysts or tumors.
    3) In the squamous cell carcinomas, proliferating cell nuclear antigen labeling index shows a significant correlation with DCE-MRI parameters (maximum CI and maximum CI gain). The assessment of DCE-MRI parameters may provide valuable information for tumor cell proliferation of patients with oral cancer.
    4) After considering the various images of pleomorphic adenoma along with the possible types of lesions, pleomorphic adenoma might be diagnosed using the features visible with MRI and DCE-MRI.
    5) ICE-MRI might be useful for distinguishing malignant lymphoma from squamous cell carcinomas.
    6) The MRI and DCE-MRI features are characteristic features of adenomatoid odontogenic tumor and may be a basis for differentiating adenomatoid odontogenic tumor from the possible lesions in radiographic examinations.
