Brian Fox is an Associate Professor of English at Okayama University, Japan. His research focuses on modern Irish literature, in particular James Joyce and John McGahern. Publications on the former include James Joyce’s America (Oxford University Press, 2019), a newly edited Penguin edition of Finnegans Wake (2025), and articles in various journals, including the James Joyce Quarterly. Research on the latter has been published in the Irish University Review and Irish Studies Review, with an emphasis on an archival approach (work ongoing). He has actively promoted research and interest in Irish literature in Japan through his editorship of the Journal of Irish Studies, the journal of IASIL Japan, and moderating events with contemporary writers (EU Literature Festival 2022; Okayama City UNESCO Creative Cities Network talk event, 2024).
