    本研究の目的は,韓国の昌原市に居住する子育て期の父親と母親の役割意識と実態を把握,分析することである。2016年9月から10月に幼稚園,保育所等の協力を得て質問紙による調査を実施した。質問紙は,父親,母親,祖父母用をセットにした500部を配布,父親217部,母親257部,祖父母54部を回収し,本稿では父親と母親票を分析した。平均年齢は父親が39.4歳,母親が37.6歳,子どもは2人が最も多い。家事・育児は,概ね母親が行っており,父親の3割強,母親の4割強は,家事・育児遂行の現状を不公平と感じ,父親の2割,母親の5割は,父親の育児担当を増やしたいと希望していた。父親の6割,母親の4割強は,「夫は生活費,妻は家事・育児」という役割分業を支持する一方で,6割前後の父親と母親は,「夫は家事・育児,妻は生活費」という逆の形も支持していた。父親と母親の8割以上が家事・育児を平等に分担すべきと考え,父親の5割,母親の6割が生活費を平等に分担すべきと考えていた。本調査の結果,多くの父親と母親は,夫婦における役割遂行について柔軟に考えようとしており,変化がみられていることを確認することができた。

    2020年度は、オンラインでの研究会及び研究打ち合わせを行った。「ライフコースと世代」に関わる、中国、韓国、フィリピン、トルコ、日本に関する研究実績について情報・意見交流することができ、有意義であった。

    This research has sought to identify a new theory of family change by combining early modern and modern theories of family demography, which previously have been discussed under a different framework. New insight has been gained on a wide range issues relating to long term demographic change, including the particularly striking increase in population and birth rate in the Tohoku region, even before the Meiji Restoration from the middle of the 19th century; the increase through these demographic conditions before the modern period of families forming ie and its subsequent standardisation; from the modern period onward the decrease in the death and divorce rate as part of an increase in the realisation of ie as a desirable outcome and the increasingly fixed nature of ie membership; and, with the stability brought about by modern ie as part of this change, the shift toward the existence of the restricted individual.

    In this study, a survey was conducted in Japan and Korea for the purpose of grasping the consciousness and reality of discipline and abuse among parents of preschool children.
    As a result of the survey, Japanese and Korean parents were worried about their child's discipline and methods, and were anxious that the acts they were performing were subject to abuse, and confirmed that they were worried between discipline and abuse.In addition, it was confirmed that parents need childcare support to be able to be trained in the discipline method according to their child's developmental stage.

    This study aims to understand reconstruction aspects of care relations in Japan and Korea in the context of historical and contemporary regional societies.
    Research methods are questionnaire survey and interview. Questionnaire survey was hold for mothers, fathers and grandparents of preschool children in Changwon, Korea. Semi-structured interviews focusing on life course and generation were hold mainly for women of 40’s and 60’s.
    We found implications on generational relationships and childcare networks through analyses of Changwon data and Aichi data, which we had corrected in the former project. We should make total comparative discussion on care relations and ‘bases of life’ by analyses of survey data and interview data.

    We explored family and kin relationships from the perspective of the ie, aiming to advance the theory on the transformation of the ie itself. In order to deepen the knowledge on family and kin relationships, we gathered, analyzed, and interpreted the data on families in their childrearing phase. The results of this study revealed that there is a continuity between the ie and contemporary families, reflected in different experiences of the local population and the non-local population in a suburb of Nagoya City Moreover, the traditional ideology of “the family successor” is preserved in the value system of the “locals” even if they do not support the other norms related to the ie. Thus, the results of this study underlined that it is necessary to introduce the perspective of the ie into the research on families in order to reach a more comprehensive understanding of their contemporary forms.

    The purpose of this study is to reveal the recognition of discipline and abuse in college students of the Faculty of Education of Japan and Korea. In Japan, we have collected 1233 valid responses between September 2013 and January 2014. In Korea, we have collected 1394 between October and December 2013.The findings are as follows: 1. More than 40 % of Japanese students and 80% of Korean students allowed punishment for discipline. 2. Out of the 23 actions, more than 70% of the students considered: only scolding (Japanese), and scolding and slapping on hands (Korean), as discipline. More than 90% of the students considered: 7 actions including giving burn marks (Japanese), and 5 including slapping faces (Korean), as abuse. 3. More than 30-40% students of both countries have experience of getting slapped by their parents during childhood. 4. Students who have taken lectures or have been exposed to topics related in child abuse most likely considered the 23 actions as abuse.

    We conducted semi-structured interview research on gender relations and social networks concerning child care and child development. Informants are parents of children in early childhood. We corrected 15 case data in Daegu, Changwon and Chuncheon in Korea and 11 case data in Aichi, Japan.
    Through analyses on WLB in Korea, it is confirmed that many informants are supported by mixture of formal system and informal networks. It is considered by Aichi data as follow. 1) Spread of parental leave has brought both calm and confident child care life stage for working mothers and reinforcement of gender role. 2) Whereas men talk they are responsible for child care, mother centered child care pattern has existed.

    The number of one-parent families has been growing as Japan's fertility rate has been staying so low. People become one-parent families for different reasons such as their single status, separation or spouse's death. Many of them suffer from social prejudice as well as financial difficulties. The purpose of this research was to clarify what creates images toward one-parent families.
    The survey in Japan was delivered to university students, who have the potential to create a family in near future, in the Kyushu, Kinki, Tokai, and Tokyo districts in Japan in the month of July, 2007. The number of distributed questionnaire sheets was 1796. The number of collected sheets was 1379. The collection rate was 76.8%.
    It was clarified that the students who were influenced negatively by public opinions and had not studied family studies had negative images toward one-parent families. In order to minimize those negative images, it is necessary to improve home economics education in Japan in which we teach family studies including one-parent families
    In Korea, the questionnaire sheets were delivered to 2000 Korean university students between October 2007 and November 2007. The valid responses were 1605, which was 80.3 % out of the 2000.
    The findings are as follows : 1. Regarding life course, close to 80% Korean university students wanted to experience life events such as getting a job, marriage and having a child in this particular order. 2. Image toward single parents' child rearing was different depending on the reasons to become single parents : unmarried, divorce, or spouses' death. The most negative image was given to unmarried single parents' child rearing. The most acceptable image was fallen to single parents because of their spouses' death. 3. The Korean university students' positive image toward single parents' child rearing was influenced mostly by the public image toward single parents' child rearing. It showed that socially constructed values make a strong impact on university students.

    The purpose of this study is to explore a mechanism reproduction the division of role by gender in Korea and Japan. The authors conducted statistical research on the consciousness of the elementary, middle and high school teachers on gender role by choosing a sample of teachers for each city in Korea and Japan from July in 2003 to February in 2004. The number of sampling in this research was 604 for Korean and 384 for Japanese. The results showed that many people oppose the division of role by gender, and many people support an equal education of the sexes, but many people support a curriculum of the sexes. This research suggested that school education today is still conducted based on sexes, through textbook in the manifested curriculum and through the attitudes of teachers in the hidden curriculum.
