    本研究課題を構成するAからDの4つの柱,さらにA1からD1の7つの項目のうち,令和3年度は,前年度から継続のB1動的シーンの成分分離とC1表面粗さの推定に加えて,A1物体の幾何学的・光学的モデリング,B2動的シーンの形状復元,および,C2物体の幾何学的・光学的モデリングのための照明計画に取り組んだ.
    A1の幾何学的・光学的モデリングでは,前処理として重要になる相互反射除去に取り組んだ.多波長・多方向光源下画像の低ランク性に基づいて,非負値行列因子分解とロバストPCAを組み合わせた相互反射除去手法を提案した.
    B1の成分分離とB2の形状復元については,両方の基盤となる鏡面反射成分と拡散反射成分の分離に取り組んだ.鏡面反射成分と拡散反射成分のいずれもが部分偏光であることを仮定して,単一のカラー偏光画像から,色情報と偏光情報に基づいて反射成分を分離する手法を提案した.また,偏光イベントベースカメラを用いた成分分離手法も提案した.
    C1の表面粗さ推定では,液晶ディスプレイ-偏光カメラシステムを用いた平面物体の表面粗さと鏡面反射率の推定に取り組んだ.ノイズの伝播解析に基づいて,少数画像からの表面粗さと鏡面反射率の推定を実現した.さらに,3次元物体への拡張を目指して,表面粗さと鏡面反射率に加えて法線を推定する手法も提案した.
    C2の照明計画では,液晶ディスプレイ-偏光カメラシステムを用いた照度差ステレオに取り組んだ.光源方向の可視性と線形独立性を考慮することで,少数の画像からカゲ(影と陰の両方)と鏡面反射に頑健な法線推定を実現した.
    その他に,関連技術・派生技術として,映り込み除去や光弾性法などの偏光解析の研究や吸収特性などに関するスペクトルイメージングの研究にも取り組んだ.
