    本研究は、産業技術の経路依存性に力点をおいて、日本の主要工業地域が有する産業技術の系譜と地域性を明らかにし、各工業地域が有する競争力の実態とその獲得過程について検討するものである。具体的な研究目的は次の3点である。一つは、主要工業地域において産業技術に関する資料を収集して経路依存的に確立された技術軌道を企業横断的ないしは産業横断的に捉え、定性的側面からも検討し、地域特有の産業技術の系譜を明確にする
    。二つは、各工業地域の工業化過程をふまえ、各地域が有する競争力の時期毎の実態を詳らかにする。三つは、工業地域固有の産業技術の系譜と当該地域のもつ競争力の変遷との相互関係性を工業地域間の比較をとおして探りつつ、それぞれ固有の産業技術の系譜に裏付けられた各地域特有の競争力の実態とその獲得過程を明確にする。
    2023年度は、研究対象地域を昨年に引きつづき中京工業地帯と瀬戸内工業地域および阪神工業地域とし、工業化ならびに産業技術に関する資料収集を行った。その上で、産業技術の導入や開発がいかに行われたのかを、それを担った主体間の関係性も含めて分析を行った。また、資料収集に平行して、産業技術に関する国内外の文献調査を行い、理論的な検討を行った。
    その結果、2023年度における研究業績は、代表者を含めて、北川(2023)ほか6編の論文ならびに学会報告を得た。そのうち、北川(2023)、橋口(2023)ならびに中島(2023)については地域特有の産業技術の系譜に注目しつつ、瀬戸内工業地域および阪神工業地帯における技術の軌道性の一端が詳らかになった。一方、鎌倉(2024)、Kamakura(2024)、水野(2023a、b)においては本研究課題に関する理論的な検討が行われた。
