・回転球面上の非強性非圧縮2次元流では、強い西向き周極流が形成されることが知られている。この際、東西流成分の中でも特に赤道対称なもの、すなわちここでの完全系である球面調和関数Y_n^mの n=奇数,m=0 成分のみにエネルギーの輸送が行われるのが特徴である。そこで本研究では、Y_n^0で表される成分の時間発展において、nの偶奇による差が、流れ場の時間発展方程式に含まれる非線形項のどこで現れるのかを、Silberman(1954)の表記を用いて数値的に調べた。その結果、非線形項の形そのものから偶奇による差は生じていないことが分かった。このことは、流れ場における東西流形成メカニズムは、非線形項の形そのもののみで説明できるものではなく、非線形項と流れ場の状況の両方を考慮した議論が必要であることを示唆している。

・回転球面上2次元乱流およびβ平面上2次元乱流において十分に時間が経過した後の大規模構造を有した流れ場について、リャプノフ解析を行った。Shimada-Nagashima(1979)の方法により上位15 個のリャプノフ指数を調べたところ、β平面では球面に比べてやや小さな値を有しており、さらに15 個が強く縮退していた。次いでリャプノフベクトルをGinelliら(2007)の方法を用いて数値的に調べたところ、球面でのリャプノフベクトルは全て、各半球にまたがり特に極周辺で強い値を持つ渦巻き状の構造を有することが見いだされた。一方、β平面ではどのリャプノフベクトルでもはっきりとした構造は示されなかった。球面とβ平面でのリャプノフ指数およびリャプノフベクトルが大きく異なる性質を示すことは、少なくともリャプノフ指数やベクトルが関係するような問題において、そしておそらくは長い時間スケールでの流れの変化に関わる問題において、β平面は球面の良い近似とはなっていないことを示唆している。 -

回転球面上の２次元非圧縮性流体の流れ場の時間発展とその軌道安定性調べるため, リャプノフベクトルの計算を実行し、リャプノフベクトルに極方向へと向かう特徴的な渦巻構造を見出した。引き続き共変リャプノフベクトルの計算準備を進めている。また, 回転球面上の２次元流で見られる帯状流など特徴的な大規模構造の生成と粘性散逸の関係を検証するため, 非粘性極限および非粘性の計算を行っている。
この系においては、通常の粘性項に対して非粘性極限解と非粘性解が一致することが知られているが、超粘性を用いた場合についても調べ、また、非粘性極限解と非粘性解が一致する場合でも、それがどのような特徴を持つ解であるのかは明らかでないため、高精度数値計算を実行して解の特徴を調べている。その結果、この極限解は形成された帯状流を記述していることを見出した。
これらと並行して、現実のガス惑星および恒星大気の流体運動の基本的なモデルである回転球殻中の熱対流と平均帯状流生成問題についても整理し今後の方向を検討した。
流体方程式の解の性質については、流れ場が乱流であるための重要な条件の一つであるzeroth-law、すなわち「エネルギー散逸率の非粘性極限の非消散」を実現するナヴィエ・ストークス方程式の滑らかな解の列を構成した。また、回転楕円面という幾何学的構造が、帯状流（測地線、Euler方程式の定常解）に沿うヤコビ場に対して共役点を生成させることを示した。これはある種のLagrangian安定性を意味するものと考えられる。 -

Computational homology, in particular, persistent diagram (PD) was proven to be a nice mathematical descriptor for amorphous structures. It shows an island structure which contrasts with random or liquid case. The software HomCloud was developed to analyze the experimental data.
A coupled Cahn-Hilliard equations was proposed to model the micro-phase separation of nanoparticles of diblock copolymers and experimentally verified to have a predictable power.A sophisticated MD simulations contributed to the fundamental aspect of dynamics of soft ceramics regarding to shear flows and uniform compression. -

Dynamics of traveling pulses and spots with oscillatory tails were investigated, especially focusing on the properties of wave-particle duality. This duality reflects on the two aspects of the localized traveling waves: one is the particle-like behavior coming from spatial localization and the other is the wave dynamics from the oscillatory tails. Oscillation of the tail part makes the interaction with other objects much more complicated than the monotone tail case. In fact, it is confirmed numerically that the traveling spots display an interference pattern when they go through the heterogeneity of slit type. A finite dimensional ODE system was also derived near a drift bifurcation point and existence and stability of critical points are rigorously shown for the 1D heterogeneous problem.
