    In order to develop a new type of wind power generation using feedback amplification of the wind-induced vibration caused between tandemly-arranged rectangular and circular cylinders, wind tunnel experiments were conducted. In the feedback control, the rotational excitation of the windward rectangular cylinder controls the vibration of the leeward circular cylinder. When the windward rectangular cylinder is excited with the time lag less than half a period of the leeward circular cylinder vibration, the leeward circular cylinder vibration is amplified efficiently. On the contrary, the feedback excitation with the time lag greater than half a period of the leeward cylinder vibration suppresses the cylinder vibration sufficiently. Although the leeward cylinder vibration is amplified more efficiently as the control gain is stronger, the amplification effect diminishes beyond a critical gain.

    In order to observe offshore wind with Doppler sodar on oscillating boats, the pendulum-type isolator to keep the horizontal state of the Doppler sodar was developed. The oscillation of the isolator pendulum itself was attempted to be suppressed by attaching additional masses to decrease the natural frequency of the pendulum and installing a damping system to dissipate the oscillation energy. As a result, the pendulum oscillation was suppressed sufficiently when the additional masses were attached above the rotation center of the isolator pendulum. In addition, the friction damper using sponge-like material suppressed the pendulum oscillation effectively. The offshore wind observation using the Doppler sodar with the developed isolation system verified that the vertical profiles of the observed wind speeds follow the power law or logarithmic law. In addition, the wind speeds and wind directions observed by the Doppler sodar have good correlations with those of the cup anemometer &amp
    wind vane at the onshore site.

    The Seto Inland Sea is an appropriate place for offshore wind power generation due to the features of its vast shallow waters, numerous islands, calm waves and so on. In this study, offshore wind power potential in the Seto Inland Sea is estimated based on the wind prediction data of LAWEPS, and most appropriate sea areas for offshore wind power generation are extracted considering the constrained conditions such as wind speed, water depth, national parks and ship lanes. In addition, offshore wind power potentials are estimated around several industrial complexes developed at the coastal areas in the Seto Inland Sea considering the possibility of the combination between wind power generation and the industrial complexes.

    A finite difference analysis method is developed to simulate outdoor sound propagation under the influence of inhomogeneous or unsteady meteorological conditions by applying the separable solution of aeroacoustics to the outdoor sound. It is verified that the perfectly reflecting boundary on ground surfaces and the nonreflective boundary to realize the sound transmission from finite domain to infinite domain virtually perform properly in the numerical analysis. Then the numerical analysis precisely simulated the advective effect of wind on sound propagation and the change of sound wavelength due to the difference of air temperature. Furthermore, a shadow zone of acoustic waves was identified from the computation of sound propagation with the nonuniform vertical distribution of wind flow.

    A feedback control technique of vortex shedding behind a circular cylinder is investigated by means of two-dimensional numerical simulations. Fluid velocity excitation is applied to the separated shear flows at two positions on the cylinder surface with time delay and feedback gain for the fluid velocity at a downstream sensor position. It is shown that the feedback excitation can suppress the vortex shedding considerably, if the time delay of the excitation is varied in accordance with the change of the vortex shedding period and the sensor is located inside the vortex formation region behind the cylinder.

    A feedback control technique of vortex shedding behind a circular cylinder is investigated through two- and three-dimensional numerical simulations. Periodic velocity excitation is applied from the cylinder surface to the separated shear flows with a time delay and feedback gain for the fluid velocity at a downstream sensor location. It is shown that the feedback excitation can suppress the vortex shedding considerably. However, the suppressing effect on the vortex shedding becomes lower if the time delay is fixed between the feedback excitation and the fluid velocity at the sensor location or the sensor is located downstream of the formation region of the vortices behind the cylinder. This is because the change of the vortex shedding frequency and the wavelength resulting from the suppression of the vortex shedding alters the phase delay between the vortex shedding and the feedback excitation.

    In order to investigate the suppression mechanisms of the vortex-induced vibration of a circular cylinder by applying periodic velocity excitation to the flows around the cylinder, numerical simulations of the flows were carried out. The vortices induced by the periodic excitation with a high growth rate merge frequently behind the cylinder, and then these vortices change the unsteady lift phase. Such intermittent change of unsteady lift phase stabilizes the cylinder aerodynamics.

    Numerical simulations based on the ALE finite element method are carried out to examine the aerodynamics of an oscillating circular cylinder when the separated shear flows around the cylinder are stimulated by periodic jet excitation with a shear layer instability frequency. The excitation is applied to the flows from two points on the cylinder surface. The numerical results showed that the excitation with a shear layer instability frequency can reduce the negative damping and thereby stabilize the aerodynamics of the oscillating cylinder. The change of the lift phase seems important in stabilizing the cylinder aerodynamics. The change of lift phase is caused by the merger of the vortices induced by the periodic excitation with a shear layer instability frequency, and the vortex merging comes from the high growth rate, the rapid increase of wave number and decrease of phase velocity for the periodic excitation in the separated shear flows.

    In order to investigate the instability of the separated shear flows around a circular cylinder, a series of linear stability analyses was carried out. The analyses confirmed that the fluctuation with the transition wave frequency is enhanced most efficiently in the separated shear layer. It is also found that the vortices induced by such fluctuation frequently merge in the separated shear layer due to the increase of their wave number and the decrease of their phase velocity. Furthermore, these strong vortices change the flow instability just behind the cylinder and then alter the characteristics of the Karman vortex-shedding.

    A finite element method based on ALE formulation has been adopted in order to examine the effect of periodic velocity excitation on the aerodynamic characteristics of an oscillating circular cylinder. Periodic excitation, which was placed on the cylinder surface, stimulated the separated shear layers around the cylinder, and numerical results showed that some excitation can reduce negative damping, which is caused by unsteady lift force, and thereby stabilize the aerodynamics of the cylinder. Furthermore, the change of lift phase caused by periodic excitation seems to be important in stabilizing the aerodynamics of the cylinder. The simulation also confirmed that periodic excitation can suppress the vortex-induced vibration of the cylinder.

    In order to investigate the possibility of suppressing flow-induced vibration of structures by applying periodic excitation such as a sound wave to the flow around the structures, numerical simulations of the vortex-induced vibration of a circular cylinder were carried out when a periodic velocity excitation was applied to the flow at two locations on the cylinder surface. A FEM based on the ALE formulation was employed to simulate the vortex-induced vibration, with the time integration being carried out by the predictor corrector method. The results revealed that the excitation with the transition wave frequency is the most effective in changing the flow characteristics around the cylinder and the characteristics of the vortex-induced vibration. These changes appear to be caused by the promotion of the vortex growth in the early vortex formation behind the cylinder.

    As a passive control means to reduce traffic-induced vibration of viaducts caused by running vehicles, viscous dampers are studied. Complex eigenvalue analysis of a simple beam with two viscous dampers shows that high modal damping can be added to lower modes. An approximate formula for the modal damping ratio is derived. Through comparison with TMD and an active control method using simulation analysis, it was indicated that viscous dampers as well as the active control method are effective for traffic-induced girder vibration. However, it is also found that the three control methods considered here are not effective in reducing the dynamic reaction force in viaducts.

    Aerodynamic sound from flat plates such as handrail was tested in the low noise wind tunnel. Measurement data was arranged with peak frequency and sound pressure level according to the number of plates, the angle of attack and wind speed. Peak frequency increased step-by-step with the increase of wind speed. Sound pressure level was reduced with attachment on plate edge or blockage of space between plates. The mechanism of aerodynamic sound generation was considered from the change of characteristics.

    Aerodynamic noise occurred from handrail of bridge or balcony in strong wind became problem. It is important to develop database of characteristics of aerodynamic sound from basic structural member such as rectangular cylinder. In this study, aerodynamic sound from single and multiple rectangular cylinder is investigated experimentally with low-noise wind tunnel. For aerodynamic sound from square cylinder, SPL is maximum at angle of attack 2°, minimum at 10°. For plate cascades, peak frequency increases step-by-step with the increase of wind speed and sound source is in leeward plate cascades mainly.

    It is found that the lift and drag force of the Hydro-VENUS blades with semi-elliptical cross-section are higher than conventional airfoil blades. According to the analysis based on the blade element momentum theory, the Hydro-VENUS turbine can rotate both in the forward and reverse direction, and its start-up performance from stationary condition is relatively high. The performance of the Hydro-VENUS turbine is improved by installing the winglet to the tip of the blade. By developing the kite flight simulator coupled with a floating vessel where the Hydro-VENUS turbine is installed, the energy harvesting performance of the full-scale model of the Autonomous Kite-Sailing Power Generation is computed. Then the kite with semi-elliptical cross-section where the aspect ratio is six revealed high performances in energy harvesting.

    昨年度の研究によって,辺長比2の長方形角柱の前縁スリットから脈動噴流によって剥離せん断流を刺激すると,角柱振動との位相を適切に選ぶことによって,きわめて効果的に振動を抑制できることが明らかになった.噴流を脈動させずに吹かせ続けたときよりも効果的に振動が収まること,位相によっては逆に振動振幅が増えることがあること,も重要な知見であると考えている.本年度は,脈動噴流が剥離せん断流に与える作用を明らかにすることを主目的にして,角柱周辺気流の測定と可視化実験を実施した.
    角柱周辺気流の測定は,角柱を固定した状態,空力振動をさせている状態,および脈動噴流で振動が抑制された状態について,後流内に熱線流速計プローブを設置して計測した.計測した流速変動をスペクトル解析した結果,角柱を固定した状態ではストローハル数成分が卓越し,空力振動させている状態では,角柱・支持系の固有振動数成分が卓越しているのに対し,脈動噴流で振動が抑制された状態では,変動のパワーが極めて小さく,また小さなピークの周波数はストローハル数成分とも固有振動数成分とも異なるものであった.この結果から,脈動噴流で振動を抑制した状態では,後流の変動がかなり少ない気流になっていることが分かった.角柱側方の剥離せん断流そのものの測定もこの知見に対応するものであった.
    可視化実験は,上流からドライアイスの白煙を風路内に流し込み,レーザーシートを鉛直に当てて,角柱側方および後流の状況を観測した.その結果,振動時の後流に見られる角柱背後の巻き込みが,振動抑制時には低減していることが認められた.

    The research is for the proposal of the mesh generation method of 3-dimensional finite element model of the orographic wind flow surrounding civil engineering structures like bridge and buildings using parallel computer, and following results are obtained: (1) The anlysis has to treat natural and artificial shapes, I.e, ground surface and buildings. The shape is created in computer by the triangulation of polygon obtained from TIN and CAD and their intersection in a same space. (2) The volume triangulation is then achieved for the 3-dirnonsional space surrounded by the triangles and the volume is replaced by a set of tetrahedral. (3) Final stage of the modeling is the mesh refinement of the set of tetrahedral, and this procedure consists of two stages; topological and geormetric improvement. The former changer the number of nodes and elements, and the latter only the position of nodes. For the modifiation of topology new tool was developed by using the Delaunay triangulation, and the modification of geometry is achieved by the Laplacian method, which relocates nodes to appropriate portion.
    The method proposed in this reseach work is based on 3-dimensional Delaunay triangulation, which accepts only the location of nodes, and, therefore, proposed method can create required finite element model when nodes are prepared on the surface of analysis domain. As far as real numbers like nodal coordinates are treated, nuumerical error may affect the final result, and improved Delaunay triangulation method is proposed in order to avoid the increase of numerical error through the triangulation.

    ニューラルネットワークは、人工知能研究の一分野で開発されたもので、生物の神経細胞の情報処理メカニズムを模倣したものである。本研究では、その優れたパターン認識能力に着目し、数学モデルにより定式化する手法を用いることなく、ニューラルネットワークを非線形履歴曲線直線モデリングへ適用する。さらに、構築したネットワークを動的応答解析の数値演算サブルーチンとして適用することで地震時における構造物の動的挙動を推定し、その有効性の評価を行う。平成8年度は高減衰積層ゴムを対象に慣性力を利用した動的載荷試験装置を作成し、それに実地震波(JMA KOBE NS)を入力して検証用のデータを取得した。また、ニューラルネットワークにより高減衰積層ゴムの正弦波載荷時の履歴曲線を学習させ、学習済ネットワークを数値演算サブルーチンとして適用し、動的応答解析を行った。その後、動的載荷試験結果とニューラルネットワークによる解析結果との比較検証を行った。その結果、非線形履歴曲線を解析に利用する際、ニューラルネットワークを用いることで、数学的手法を用いることなく直接モデリングすることが可能であることが確認された。また、典型的な履歴曲線を学習させたネットワークを数値演算サブルーチンとして地震応答解析に用いた場合、ネットワークによる推定は、実地震波に対する複雑な動的挙動を定性的、定量的に表現可能であることが確認された。

    The suspended membrane roof for rainproof dam construction consists of a membrane that is supported by two parallel cables spanned between the banks. This roof is advantageous because it can be located according to the construction stage and it will not prevent the construction procedure. However, the divergence phenomenon is observed under wind speed of about 20 m/s due to its extremely light and flexible structure. Divergence occurs even under lower wind speed when the wind blows up. The objective of this study is to develop the suspended membrane roof system that withstands even the blow up wind.
    For the development of the wind-resistant membrane roof, it is essential to understand the divergence occurrence mechanism. Therefore we tried to develop an analytical procedure so that the coupled phenomenon of membrane motion and the wind forces can be solved using 2 dimensional computational fluid dynamics. Because the phenomenon is complicated where the wind force changes the membrane shape that results in the different wind forces, the analysis that couples large amplitude dynamical membrane motion and wind forces have not produced stable computational results yet. Then the static response that affects divergence which is dominant for the membrane stability is tried to be analyzed. By carefully considering the procedure how to couple the membrane motion and the wind forces, we developed the analytical procedure with which the equilibrium membrane shape with the wind force can be obtained. The obtained results qualitatively agreed with the previous experimental results.
