    Statistical change in official temperature records at Okayama City caused by relocation of meteorological observation field of Meteorological Agency was evaluated. The observation field of Okayama local meteorological observatory was moved to the Tsushima Campus of Okayama University from the downtown area of Okayama City in March, 2015. Comparison between the air temperature records measured at meteorological agency station and the records at Tanjo Pond in Tsushima Campus, showed 0.56 ℃ drop in annual average before and after relocation. Moreover, comparison between the records of Okayama local meteorological observatory and that at the surrounding meteorological observing 9 stations showed 0.55 ℃ drop in annual average. Those results suggest that the relocation dropped annual average of air temperature by about 0.6 ℃.

  • Geospatial Preference for Asparagus Fields in Thailand

    A questionnaire survey by interview to the farmhouse in Nakhon Pathom Province in Thailand had been carried out, where the asparagus farming as the cash crop have spread rapidly. Valid response from 24 farmers were obtained and Asparagus had been planted in 30 plots within 74 plots (40.5%). As the result of statistical analysis on the geospatial preference for asparagus fields by logit model in which the geospatial characteristics of plots such as elevation, slope, curvature, acreage and distance from farmhouse were adapted as the explanatory variables while the category of the cultivated crops in there was adapted as the independent variable, it became clear that as for the asparagus plots, small lots were more preferred. On the other hand, the geospatial preference for asparagus plots such as elevation, slope, curvature and distance from farmhouse did not became clear.

This study is intended to evaluation of social and geographic factors that affect the distribution of cultivation abandonment land in Lake Kojima basin, Okayama Prefecture. Regression analysis was used for analysis. The inclination angle, elevation, management cultivated area were related to condition of cultivation abandonment land and the distribution of cultivation abandonment land.

    This study shows the character of land use changes in farmlands and abolition reason of the irrigation ponds for 30 years from 1970s to 2000s as a case study of Sangawa Town, Sanuki City, Kagawa Prefecture by regression analysis. The results of the first regression analysis showed the relevance of a lot of the explanatory variables and land use changes in farmlands. And the results of the second regression analysis showed the relevance of the frequency of mowing and the abolition of the irrigation ponds.

    For sustainable development of irrigated agriculture in arid regions, improvement of water use efficiency is essentially required to maintain current production levels and meet food and fiber for population growth in future. To achieve high water use efficiency, a key consideration is to reduce unnecessary soil water loss due to evaporation. In this article, regional daily evaporation over Hetao Irrigation District in a typical arid region during the irrigation period of 2009 was determined by a developed maximum surface temperature model combining Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) satellite imagery. The results showed that maximum land surface temperature (LST) from MODIS satellite imagery was relatively higher in the western and middle parts than that of the eastern part of the district. At the same time, the mean minimum LST was shown somewhat higher in the eastern part. Mean daily evaporation was relatively higher in the eastern part, which showed water consuming is higher in the eastern part of the district. During the irrigation period of 2009, the total income water (irrigation water and rainfall) amount is 590.3 mm, and the outcome water (drainage discharge and evaporation) amount is 497.5 mm. The surplus of 92.8 mm in the irrigated season is considered to be consumed in winter season. Throughout the irrigated season, income and outcome almost equals each other. The daily evaporation distribution map could specify particular water consuming areas over the district where high daily evaporation may be occurred.

    This study suggests a methodology to consider diversified individuals' sense of values (weighting) in consensus building process. Through a case study on wise uses of irrigation tanks to be abolished, the following two points are found: a) preferable consensus building is possible when citizens of a community understand other individuals' weights based on altruistic idea, b) it is necessary that the process of consensus building through citizens' workshop follows the mechanism of improving quality of life.

    The purpose of this study is to make clear how the initial land-use effects on the probability of the land turning into housing lots. An empirical study using digital national land information was done for Kagawa Prefecture. By the result of the principal component analysis, it became clear that the variables concerning the land use representing many of information on other variables. It seems that this is the reason why the good estimation of the probability of the land turning into housing lots is possible only by the initial land-use.

    In this study, the spatial structure of the residential land development was analyzed for the whole area of Kagawa Prefecture. Binominal logit model was used as an analysis method. As the result, it became clear that the probability of the residential land envelopment could estimate by the high level of the goodness of fit. It also became clear that in addition to the important factor of the land use change like geographical features, geological features, and the population distribution, the initial land use condition plays very important role. Moreover it also became clear that to estimate the probability of the residential land development only by initial land use condition is possible at a considerable level.

    This study aimed to make clear the main factors that affect the amount of visitors at irrigation pond parks based on the observed data at 27 ponds in Kagawa prefecture. As the results of multiple regression analysis and logit model analysis, the main factors were clarified, and also the projection models were established. Moreover, it became clear that the attribute of the irrigation pond itself, the situation of surrounding area and the maintenance were important factors though the content of park was also important.

    In recent years, the points to be considered for the maintenance and renovation of irrigation ponds have become diversified and complicated. To cope with such a situation, local government should make a master plan for this purpose. However, there are too many irrigation ponds to make a plan for each pond individually. It seems more effective to sort them into several groups of similar ones to make an improvement plan for each group. From this viewpoint, this study made several groups out of all the irrigation ponds in Sangawa Town, Kagawa Prefecture, and discussed the grouping method to be adopted at the municipality level.

    Nowadays with the spread in the use of vehicles and the change in life style, retail market areas are becoming bigger and bigger. Under this phenomena, it is necessary to adjust the rural plans to this prevalence condition. This study is an empirical analysis of retail spatial structure based on grocery shopping behavior in the Tohaku region, Tottori Prefecture. The study area is agriculture dominated area, characterized by a strong primacy city phenomena. Grocery shopping behavior was selected because it has many numbers of trips done in daily life. The analysis is based on the travel flow data from home to retail shop, collected by questionnaires in the study area. In the preliminary analysis, it is clear that most of the respondents use family owned car and patron a large scale retail store. However, we can not disregard the number of people patronizing a small scale retail store on foot or by bicycle.<BR>From the travel flow data and the centrality index, the location of central place and its spatial pattern of area of influence are clarified. The area of influence has hierarchical and overlapping structure characteristics, however the upper barrier for travelling distance is 15 km. It means if there existed two central places, it could cover the whole region. These central places are referred to Kurayoshi in the eastern side, Yabase and Akasaki in the western side of the study area. The other central places can be ranked as a lower class of central places. Moreover, we found that there is a clear difference between central places patronized by consumers with family owned car, and by consumers on foot or by bicycle. <BR>Based on the spatial potential theory, we analyzed the dynamics of central places transformation. As a consequence, retail stores tend to locate in the area with higher location potential. In the process of the. analysis, we also found that the degree of purchasing convenience in the northern part (plain area) is quite different from that in the southern part (mountainuos area) . For this issue, we concluded that further development of central places with high location potential in the southern part could give the best solution.

    This paper is a part of study on the residential distribution of employees, which attempt to make clear the employment effect on population distributionchange. In this paper, we attempted to make clear the preference structure on housing location choice of employees, as the case study in Samarinda Municipality, the Republic of Indonesia.<BR>To get the samples, we selected 29 establishments in Samarinda Municipality, and we inquired to the employees about the experience of residential move after employed, the location of new housing lot and socio-economical attribute by questionnaire. The total number of samples became 272.<BR>As the analytical method, we applied multinomial logit modeleq. (1) which adopted &ldquo;the location of new housing lot&rdquo; as the dependent variable and also &ldquo;the geographical attributes which might influence the preference of residential location choice&rdquo; as the explanatory variables.<BR>(1)<BR>(2)<BR>P : the probability that zone i will be selected by individual n as the new housing lot X : the k-th attribute of zome i for individual n &beta; : parameter fork-th explanatory valiables<BR>The study area was divided to 32 zones (i=1 to 32) according to the administrative boundary. We adopted 8 variables as explanatory variable of eq. (1), which were commuting distance, CBD distance, former address distance and so on.<BR>The results are concluded as follows.<BR>1. From the calibration of multinomial logit model, the preference structure of housing location was formulated. It showed that commuting distance, CBD distance, former address distance were main factors for preference ofresidential location. And it indicated that the location where closed to work place and former address and also apart from CBD was preferred.<BR>2. From the result of principal component analysis on the parameters calibrated by multinomial logit model, the characteristics of the residential preferences which related to work place location, former address and ownership of new house were made clear.<BR>3. From this study, the significant relationship between the preference of residentioal location and individual characteristics of employees wes not founded.<BR>4. From the simulations, the relationship between location of establishment and population distribution change was visually understood.

    This study is a part of the study on the residential distribution of employees, which has attempted to make clear the effect of population distribution control by the employment of establishment. In this paper, we attempted to make clear the decision-making structure on moving out of employees, as the case study in Samarinda Municipality, the Republic of Indonesia. <BR>To get the samples, we inquired to employees about the experience of moving out after employed and socio-economical attribute by questionnaire at 29 establishments in Samarinda municipality. The number of samples were 657. <BR>As the analytical method, We applied disaggregate logistic model eq. (1) which adopted&ldquo;the experience of moving out after employed&rdquo; as the independent variable and the variables which might influence the decision-making on moving out as the expanatory variables. <BR>(1) <BR>Pr: the probability of moving out of individual r <BR>Xrk: the k-th variable related individual r, which might influence the decision-making on moving out <BR>&beta;: Parameter <BR>The probability on moving out of individual r might be influenced by the geographical attribute of inhabiting zone, which related to utility for daily life or commuting, and the socio-economical attribute like as age, sex, income and so on, so that we adopted 7 variables related with the geographical attribute of inhabiting zone and 12 variables related with the socio-economical attribute of individual r as the explanatory variables of eq. (1) . <BR>As the results, it was indicated that 8 explanatory variables were significant for fluctuation of independent variable at 5% level, which were 1 geographical and 7 individual variables. It showed that &ldquo;population density in the inhabiting zone&rdquo;, &ldquo;male&rdquo; and &ldquo;length of employed&rdquo;were positive and &ldquo;age&rdquo;, &ldquo;birth in Samarinda&rdquo;, &ldquo;own house&rdquo;, &ldquo;size of family&rdquo; and &ldquo;not the head of household&rdquo; were negative factor for decision-making on moving out. <BR>The conclusions are as follows. socio-economical attributes of individual mainly affect to decision-making rather than geographical attributes. It means that to control the number of mover by zone might be possible to control the place of establishment and the conditions of employment.

    In developing countries, it is seemed that to improve the population keeping capacity in local city area utilized establishments employment has been one of the pressing needs. In the paper, we attempted to make clear the spatial structure of employment sphere of establishments in Samarinda municipality, the Republic of Indonesia, as one of the case of local city area in developing countries.<BR>As the samples for this study, we inquired the addresses, where who had dwelt when who hired, of totally 908 employees at 29 establishments in Samarinda municipality. As the analytical method on the spatial structure of the residential distributions of samples, we applied the attraction-constrained gravity model eq. (1) and we examined the components of explanatory variables, V, and Si, and the fluctuation factors of parameter A in the eq. (1) by following methods.<BR>(1)<BR>Tij; the number of employees who had dwelt in zone i at the time when who hired at establishment j.<BR>Vi; emissiveness index on zone i.<BR>Vi=IIXik&alpha;k (Xik; the k-th variable on zone i, &alpha;k; parameter) <BR>Sij; separation index between zone i and establishment j.<BR>Sij=dij+&gamma;&delta;ij (dij; route distance between zone i and establishment j, &delta;ij dummy variable (1 if it is necessary to use boat traffic between zone i and establishment j, 0 otherwise), y; parameter) .<BR>&lambda;; parameter.<BR>For examination on the components of explanatory variables in the eq. (1), we adopted 5 variables concerned with geographical attributes on zone i, which were 3 variables as components of Vi, population, CBD distance and agricultural-land/housing-land ratio, and 2 variables as components of Si, route distance and the necessity of boat commuting.<BR>We examined the significance of above 5 explanatory variables using t-test on parameters. We also examined the influence of them to the fluctuation of Ti, based on the plus or minus sign of parameters.<BR>For examination on the fluctuation factors of parameter A in the eq. (1), we applied multiple regression analysis eq. (2) which adopted 9 variables as the explanatory variables, which were 3 variables on individual attributes of employees, 3 variables on attractiveness of establishments and 3 variables on traffic condition.<BR>(2)<BR>Xl; the l-th variable on employees (l=1-3) .<BR>Ym; the m-th variable on attractiveness of establishments (m=1-3) .<BR>Zn; the n-th variable on traffic condition (n=1-3) .<BR>&beta;; partial regression coefficient.<BR>The summary of results are follows.<BR>From the examination by eq. (1), it was indicated that population and CBD distance of zone i were positive factors and agricultural-land/housing-land ratio, route distance and the necessity of boat commuting of zone i were negative factors for the fluctuation of Ti, . Also it was indicated that two explanatory variables, population by zone and commuting distance, were the basic fluctuation factors.<BR>From the examination by eq. (2), it was indicated that passage of time and male/female ratio of employees were positive factors for the fluctuation of parameter &lambda;

    To make effective land use plan, it is essential to estimate future population in planning area. For that purpose, it is necessary to comprehend the formative mechanism of population distribution in the planning area, and to develop the population estimation method based on the mechanism. In this paper, we proposed the population estimaion model which aims to estimate the population by cities, towns and villages, and based on a substantiative study, examined the fitness of the model and tried to comprehend the formative mechanism of population distribution by cities, towns and villages.<BR>The population estimation model which proposed in this paper was constructed based on the idea that the population distribution had close relation with industrial structure, so it has the structure to estimate the population based on industrial structures and transportation conditions by cities, towns and villages, applying gravity model. Because of the purpose to make a concise model and to specify the effects of the primary industries and the secondary and tertiary industries on the population distribution formation, the input variables are consist of only four variables, which are ; firstly, the number of the primary industrial workers by cities, towns and villages, Secondary, the number of the secondary andtertiary industrial workers by cities towns and villages, thirdly, the road distances among each cities, towns andvillages, these three variables are used of estimation target year's values which are assumed as the exogenous variables, which are possible to estimate by someother methods, and lastly, the number of the population aged from fifteen to sixty-four by cities, towns and villages, this variable is used of estimation executive year's value. As a substantiative study, we applied this model to Kohoku region, Shiga prefecture using the census returns since the year 1955, and the estimation periods were 0, 5, 10 and 15 years. As the results, the fitness of the model was proved in each estimation period, because the correlations between estimated population and real population was rather high. Also the formative mechanism of population distribution in rural area was comprehended, and it was emphatically indicated that the location of establishments had became very important factor as the formation factor of population distribution in rural area year by year.

    A method to estimate of land use type such as saline lands, sand dunes, grassland etc. from topographic characteristics such as altitude, gradient and altitude difference in an irrigated arid agricultural area was developed and yearly change of saline area was estimated. It was statistically shown that sand dunes and lakes are located adjacent to each other. The water balance, which is the difference between inflow and outflow amount of water for each partial block, was found to be larger in blocks with higher area of sand dune and the saline land. From the continuous groundwater levels monitored at the middle of the dune slope, foot of the dune and the surrounding area, it was found that the variation of the levels was consisted of annual fluctuation due to irrigation, fluctuation accompanying rainfall event and daily fluctuation accompanying evapotranspiration, and that the sand dunes play roles to store the irrigated water and to supply the water to the surrounding area.

    Rural amenity is defined as the fusion of community facility, social capital, environmental and landscape resources, its maintenance and improvement is common in east Asian countries. So, after the comparative study of four countries, research in each country is conducted. The district carried amenity improvement project received a number of tourists from urban area, becomes activated in each country. Community-based initiatives are particularly effective. Analyzing the impact of personal attributes as the evaluation of amenities, relationship was observed in individual attributes and important amenity items.

    (1)A model which can estimate evaporation only by maximum and minimum ground surface temperature (MST model) was developed. Spatial distribution of evaporation of Hetao Irrigation District, Inner Mongolia, China was estimated by satellite image and MST model and the results were validated.
    (2)Relationship between spatial distribution of saline area in the District and topological, geographical conditions was analyzed.
    (3)Based on the relationship between seasonal change of annual average and deviation of NDVI (Normalized Vegetation Index) obtained by MODIS image and the estimated evaporation, saline risk area was identified.
    (4)As constraints of linear programming, water balance based on estimated evaporation and salt balance of each sub region was considered, and drainage water quality of each sub region was specified by a leaching efficiency coefficient. Applying linear programming, optimal sustainable water allocation was determined. The results showed that improvement of conveyance efficiency is effective as measures for improvement of the irrigation and drainage system.

    東アジア4ヶ国(日本、韓国、中国、台湾)からコミュニティ計画論の研究者を招き,2010年8月22日から26日にかけて京都大学で国際ワークショップ(WS)を開催し、各国のコミュニティ計画論について濃密な意見交換と比較考察を行った。日本からは「集落自治組織の再編」と「まちづくりにおける自治組織の機能」に関する報告があり、韓国からは「農村マウル総合開発事業」に関する報告(2事例)があった。また、中国からは「新農村建設事業」に関する設計事例の報告(2事例)が、台湾からは「2010年に制定された農村再生条例に基づくコミュニティ計画の取り組み」と「文化的資源による社区発展の比較分析」がそれぞれ報告された。各国の報告はコミュニティ計画と地域づくりにかかわる最新の事例を取り扱っているが、計画論を規定する各要素(計画の区域、事業主体、住民組織、参加のスタイル、専門家の関与、行政の関与、助成)に着目してこれらを整理したところ、それぞれの共通点と相違点が鮮明となり、東アジア各国のコミュニティ計画論を包括した枠組みの設定が可能であることがわかった。他方、報告内容から重点的な関心を読み取り、それを比較するならば、中国では計画策定の方法論(狭義の計画論)が、韓国では、地域づくりのマネジメント(広議の計画論)と関係主体の連携が、台湾と日本では住民主体の形成(キャパシティ・ビルディング)がそれぞれ中心的な課題として扱われていたが、これは、各国のコミュニティ計画論がおかれている環境条件に大きく左右されていることが推察された。これらの成果は、『比較農村計画論』の確立に貢献するものである。

    本研究課題は里地里山の環境変化と鳥獣被害の関係を,マクロ,メソ,ミクロの異なる空間階層ごとに明らかにし,それらの関係を数学的にモデル化することを試みるものであるが,1年目にはマクロレベルとミクロレベルの分析を,2年目にはメソレベルの分析を行った。3年目となる本年度は,各空間レベル(3階層)のモデルの統合を試みる予定であったが,上位階層のデータが得られにくいことから,実効的な統合モデルの作成は困難であると考えられた。
    一方,近年の鳥獣被害の台頭は土地利用変化が大きな要因であると指摘されているところであり,特に,休耕地の増加や水田の作付体系の多様化が大いに関係していると考えられることから,土地利用変化と鳥獣被害の関係をマクロレベルのような広い範囲で分析することは,3階層の統合モデルの作成と同等に意義深いものであると考えられる。特に,近年は衛星リモートセンシング技術とGISの進歩により,広い範囲の土地利用状況を高い精度で把握することが可能となってきつつある。
    そこで,衛星画像による水田の作付時期の判別がどの程度可能であるかについて,予察的な分析を行うこととした。結果として,中解像度の光学センサーであれば,かなりの精度での判別が期待できるが,田植え時期は晴天日が少ないため,観測機会が少ないという欠点があること,また,マイクロ波センサーであれば,観測が天候には影響されない利点があるものの,判別精度が低いという欠点があることが分かった。そこで,高頻度観測衛星による水面率の推計を試みたところ,湛水実績と推計値は比例関係にあり,高頻度観測衛星を補完的に用いることで精度の向上が期待できると考えられた。

    (1) A field research on damage in agricultural land by sea water invasion was conducted on case of 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. A method to predict the damaged area using satellite image and geological information was developed.
    (2) The fresh water ponding irrigation method was found most effective for desaliinization of the sea water invaded farm land by a field experiment.
    (3) A desalinization characteristics index(DCI) by ponding irrigation was proposed. The validity of the index was confirmed by a column experiment and a numerical simulation.
    (4) Water requirement for desalinization was mapped on a studied area using the index.
    (5) A scheme for optimum water allocation for desalinization of farm land on coastal area was developed

    We studied the public involvement in maintenance of irrigation tanks that to open the way in lasted maintenance. The areas for the research is the Miyakita district of Mure-cho in Kagawa Prefecture. We made clear following things.
    1)Those who doesn't know reservoir reorganization project is executed, was passive also to the irrigation tanks maintenance using public involvement.
    2)The project promotion committee and the female group made the wise uses of irrigation tanks to be abolished respectively. finally, both were joint and the final idea was made in the workshop.
    3)Especially, the process from understanding level 2(doubt cancellation) to understanding level 3(opinion statement) was clarified in the workshop of the female group.
    4)There was a problem in the following three points while advancing the research.
    (1)It was answered that the respondent of about 20 percent did not understand for which idea of the wise uses, and there was a problem in the resident's consideration formation though information on the wise uses was sent by the reservoir news.
    (2)The workshop failed by the dissenting opinion that there was a problem in the process of the wise uses though the workshop where the maintenance management problem of the reservoir had been assumed to be a theme was done.
    (3)Not relating to the maintenance management intention after the project had been completed became clear though the dissemination by the reservoir news had infiltrated the local populace.
    5)To examine a problem above-mentioned (1) (2) (3), the questionnaire of sense of values in the control of maintenance was executed in the Hyogo Prefecture east Harima region and Kagawa Prefecture Takamatsu City where the resident participation organizations in the reservoir maintenance. It was clarified that the control of maintenance was possible even if there was no management capital as long as environmental consideration based on a regional property was able to be formed.

  • On Evaluation for Effectiveness of Reducing River Discharge with the Irrigation Tank System Lied on a Plain

    Effectiveness to reduce runoff in a river basin containing irrigation tank systems laid on a plain was evaluated. The Shimizu River (CA=2.8km^2, L=2.5km) as a model on this research contains 14 irrigation tanks and their related channels. Surface area of all of the irrigation tank systems including related channels accounts for 23.7 percent of the catchments area.
    For the evaluation of effectiveness of irrigation tank systems, scenarios were considered as follows ;
    - both present irrigation tank systems and present water management for irrigation will be sustained in the future (Case A),
    - both all of the irrigation tank systems and their storage function will be abandoned (Case B),
    - present irrigation tank systems will be sustained, besides operation and management of the systems will be modified to reduce runoff in a river basin further (Case C).
    Based on precipitation data at Typhoon 15 in August and Typhoon 23 in October, 2005, runoff model of The Shimizu River was run by Kinematic Wave Method. For the Case B, temporary storage of rainfall upon the basin is not taken into account, because of loss of capacity on the irrigation tank systems.
    Although calculated peak discharge was 9.1m^3/s at Typhoon 15 and 10.1m^3/s at Typhoon 23 respectively on the Case B, calculated peak discharge was 4.2m^3/s at Typhoon 15 and 5.4m^3/s at Typhoon 23 respectively on the Case A. These results show that an effect on the Case A caused an about 46 through 53 percent decrease in peak discharge under a condition of precipitation on this research.
    For strengthening effectiveness to reduce runoff discharge such as the Case C, it was pointed out that selection of a suitable irrigation tank system taking into consideration arrangement and storage capacity would be important.

    (1) A model of land-use conversion from agriculture and forestry to residential use in the period of 1987- 1997 was built using a binomial logit model based on the digital national land information data for Kagawa Prefecture. Data on geomorphology, geology, population and initial land use were used as explanatory variables in the model. The accuracy of prediction by the model was reasonably high and the initial land use was found to be a critical factor for the land-use conversion.
    (2) A multi-level modeling approach was applied to analyze agricultural land distribution in Japan, resulting in higher accuracy with smaller number of factors than in single-level models. We also succeeded in revealing local characteristics of regions that affect agricultural land distribution, such as a role of agricultural cooperative, level of labor market, agricultural investment, and tightness of rural community.
    (3) Quantitative analysis on land-use conversion and its factors was carried out at an irrigated area in southern Taiwan through satellite image analysis. Agricultural land conversion was then separated into two kinds; change in agricultural practice and shifting to non-agricultural use, within which dynamic system models were constructed respectively.
    (4) Overall results of the project were assembled in a report, presenting the latest progress in understanding, analyzing, and projecting land-use conversion in broader municipal regions in Japan.

    Recently, it comes to diversify that the matters we should consider on the conservation and improvement of irrigation pond. It is periodically necessary to improve superannuated dike because of stuructual feature. Therefore, we consider it necessary to improve irrigation pond and its surrounding areas environment together at the oppotunity to improve each pond seperately. Since that is so, it is previously necessary to grasp what kind of maintenance is required for each irrigation pond and what is superannuated degree of it at the same time. The aim of this study is to clarify the method of planning for irrigation pond conservation and improvement considering surrounding areas environment. This report deals with studies on the grouping method of irrigation pond and surveying method in order to decide superannuated degree of it.
    The first chapter deals with the method which making each pond into some groups in conection with the way of maintenance to applying in Kagawa prefecture. We divise the method using publised data only. Useful results could be obtained through the wide area like prefecture.
    The second chapter discusses the same method. However, we applied it in Sangawa town of Kagawa prefecture as the grouping method by principal component analysis and cluster analysis. We could presented the useful method at the level of local goverment as towns
    The third chapter deals with the surveying method about 230 irrigation ponds which became the object in Sangawa town. We discuss surveying items of irrigation pond, investigation of the actual conditions, analysis through questionnaire by AHP method, decision of the weight value about evaluated items, and estimation of superannuated degree of the ponds. It becomes clear that the irrigation pond can be arranged in ranks according to the superannuated degree.

    事例地域として、典型的な中山間地域である香川県琴南町を選定した。町内で特徴的な5地区を選定し、居住者への訪問聞き取り調査により、日常的行動圏域の実態調査を行った。調査対象とした行動種目は、通勤、通院、レクリエーションの3種である。調査項目は、これらの行動における行先の施設名及びその位置である。また、行動圏域に個人差を生じる要因と考えられる、年齢、性別、交通手段等の個人的属性についても併せて調査した。
    以上の調査結果を地区別、行動種別(5地区×3行動種=15パターン)に集計した。行動圏域の形成構造について、地区別、行動種目に多項ロジットモデルによる分析を行った。モデルの従属変数は行き先の選択確率、説明変数は行き先の魅力度、自宅から行き先へのアクセス距離とした。分析の結果、3種の行動圏域共に、全体的にモデルの適合度が低く、モデルによる説明力が低いことが判明した。特に、DIDから離れた地区においてモデルの説明力が低く、行き先の魅力度と行き先への距離の2点のみから説明できるような単純なものではないことが判明した。モデルの説明力が低かった原因としては以下の2点が考えられる。(1)中山間は都市域と異なり、行き先の選択枝が限られている。すなわち、多数存在する選択枝の中から好みのものを選ぶ、という都市的な選択パターンではなく、あらかじめ選択枝が限定されており、いやでもそこへ行くというパターンである。この場合、行動圏域を行き先の魅力度と距離のみで説明しようとしたこと自体に問題があったと考えられる。(2)他の中山間地域同様、高齢者のみの世帯も多数存在し、自家用者を使う非高齢者世帯との間に、大きな隔たりがあることが推察される。以上から、今後、行き先(選択枝)の分布状況とその選択パターンの関係を明らかにすると共に、年齢、性別、移動の際の交通手段等の個人的属性と生活圏域との関連について分析を進めて行きたい。
