本研究は、弥生時代の形象遺物群に着目し、吉備中枢の弥生墳丘墓の果たした歴史的意義を追究することを目的とする。この目的に沿い、2021年度は、岡山大学考古学研究室が1983年から1985年に発掘調査を行った岡山市雲山鳥打弥生墳丘墓群出土の形象遺物について、基礎的整理を進めた。雲山鳥打については、正式報告書が未刊な現状にあり、本研究の対象となる家形土器と鳥形土器についても、後者の一部を除き未報告資料である。本研究の着想のきっかけであり、研究の鍵を握る資料として初年度の研究対象とした。
研究は、雲山鳥打に関し、調査時の図面等の検討と、多量の出土土器の中から該当する形象遺物を探索する作業から開始した。本研究の主な対象である家形土器については、複数個体が存在するものと考えるが、薄手で、かつ精良な粘土からなる複雑な立体構造物となる。そのため通常の土器復元のように、家形土器の破片資料を接着剤で接合し、破片が見当たらない部分を石膏等で補填することに困難な側面もあった。こうした状況から、当初から本研究の方法として採用していたSfM写真計測の手法を破片資料に適用し、破片ごとに三次元データ化した上でソフトウェアにおいてそれらを接合する方法を試行した。また、複数個体が存在する家形土器と鳥形土器に関して、ハンドヘルドの蛍光X線装置を用い、胎土に関する理化学的情報を取得した。こうした雲山鳥打に関する基礎的研究は、2022年度以降の岡山県内外の形象遺物群に関する研究の基礎となるものである。 -

研究開始時点では想定できなかった長期にわたる新型コロナウィルスのパンデミックの影響を受けて、フィールド調査のいくつかは計画の順番変更を余儀なくされたが、困難を乗り越えておおむね順調、一部計画を先行して進めることができた。本研究はミュオン班・墳丘班・埴輪班の３つの班によって実施されている。それぞれの班ごとに研究経過を報告する。
ミュオン班：2020 年度は、古墳研究に適用するミュオン検出器の設計を検討し、検出器製作の基本方針を定め、製作を開始した。
墳丘班：墳丘班による三次元計測は、岡山市造山古墳周辺、総社市作山古墳で実施している。総社市鳶尾塚古墳の三次元計測も完了している。赤磐市両宮山古墳については、赤磐市教育委員会から三次元データを提供していただき、当初予定していた吉備三大古墳の墳丘三次元データを初年度で入手したことになる。次いでそれぞれのデータ整理を開始している。また、鳶尾塚古墳では墳丘の発掘調査を実施し、直径23mの円墳であることが推定されるに至っている。
埴輪班：造山古墳、両宮山周辺古墳（赤磐市森山古墳、同・宮山 4 号墳、同・岩田 3 号墳）と倉敷市二万大塚古墳出土埴輪の資料を所蔵機関から入手し、光学・電子顕微鏡による微細組織観察、X 線回折装置による鉱物同定、および電子線マイクロアナライザ・蛍光 X 線分析装置による化学分析を実施した。その結果、胎土には主に風化花崗岩起源の鉱物粒子と広域テフラ起源のガラス粒子が含まれており、それらの組成から生産地を特定できる可能性が示された。また、鉱物の熱変成と融解の程度により、野焼きと窖窯における焼成温度が見積もられた。埴輪の考古学的観察も並行して進め、造山古墳と畿内王陵系埴輪の比較研究を実施している。 -
ミュオンラジオグラフィを用いた巨大古墳調査法の開発にかかる研究

考古班は、岡山大学が作成した岡山市造山古墳３次元測量データ３種類と赤磐市が作成した両宮山古墳の３次元測量データを入手し、それぞれの古墳の測量データがミュオンラジオグラフィにおける解析とシミュレーションに適切な精度を有しているか検討を進めた。造山古墳では３種のデータのうち、より適切なデータを選択した。両宮山古墳では座標データから等高線を復元し、ミュオンラジオグラフィの解析に備えている。岡山市造山古墳のミュオンラジオグラフィ調査に備え、岡山市教育委員会ならびに地元保存会と協議を実施し、基本的に協力を取り付けている。
ミュオン班の今年度の課題は、３段構造を持つ古墳の中段まで人力で運搬可能なコンパクト可搬型ミュオン検出器の開発である。（１）波長変換ファイバー入りプラスチックシンチレータと光半導体デバイス（MPPC）の組合せによるカウンターの効率と実装法を確認するため、技術的に確立している光電子増倍管と比較してカウンター単体の予備実験を実施し、部品と材料の調達を開始した。（２）露天の測定環境に耐え得る防水、防砂、温調機能を持つ検出器の構造・構成を検討するため、文献調査、福島原発等の検出器開発者らとの情報交換、予備実験を繰り返し、基本設計を進めた。（３）考古班からの詳細情報に基づくシミュレーション解析を進めた。
本研究費で購入した光電子増倍管、波長変換ファイバー、データ解析用パソコン等を予備実験に活用した。検出器筐体の構造や設置場所の検討に必要な現地環境調査は、所属部署の県外出張自粛要請のために断念した。
検出器の開発ならびに考古班の作業は基盤Sに引き継いで実施中である。 -

メキシコでは次年度以降のドローンLiDAR測量に備え、杉山がテオティワカン遺跡周辺を踏査し、現有の図に追補拡充すべき地形や遺構を検討した。モンテアルバン遺跡とチョルーラ遺跡で現地協力者と共にLiDAR測量計画を検討し、前者では発掘を行った。また国際会議を開催し本新学術領域の根本的な理論構築と研究戦略を討議し、国際フォーラムで現地社会に成果発信した。
ペルーでも航空LiDAR測量の準備として、鶴見と山本が現地協力者と共に航空写真測量を進め、テルレン=ラ・ボンバ遺跡等の研究に貢献するとともに、法制に従ったドローン運用法や技術的課題を実地で検討した。山本はインガタンボ遺跡の発掘準備を進め、またエクアドル南部セロ・ナリオ遺跡等で発掘と航空測量を行った。
日本では、笹生が縄文・弥生・古墳時代の遺体・人骨の基礎データ抽出と、データベース入力フォーマットの設計を進めた。北條は古墳や神社等の方位、近世城郭の天守閣の正面観と、周辺景観・天文景観との関係を問う目的で事例集成と図上分析を行い、伊勢・熊野の寺社仏閣ではGPS観測を伴う踏査を実施した。光本はドローンによるLiDAR測量に必要な研究環境を整備し、技術的課題を検証し、造山古墳群の測量に着手した。
オセアニアでは後藤・片岡がグアムの洞窟遺跡を視察し、また野嶋らと共にミクロネシア連邦ポーンペイ島で巨石遺跡群を踏査して、他団体による測量プロジェクトとの情報交換を図りつつ、測量と発掘の対象地を検討した。野嶋はバヌアツのウレパラパラ島の祭祀遺跡群の現状把握調査を行い、次年度以降の測量調査を立案した。
関口と後藤は天体を含めてヒトの認知する景観を分析すべく、天文シミュレータの開発を準備しており、自然地形や遺構の既存の3次元データの精度や、既存のソフトウェアの検討を行った。また暦に関する国際研究会を開催した（新型コロナウイルスの影響で20年度に延期）。 -

This project worked on 3D measurements regarding Yayoi burial mounds and incipient kofun (Tatetsuki Yayoi burial mound, Tatezaka Yayoi burial mound, and Miyayama site) and research on the mounded tomb in the Early Kofun period (Tsukura Kofun) in the southern Okayama region, in order to re-examine the formation process of mounded tombs. In conclusion, it has shown the effectiveness of the detailed 3D date, in order to observe and recognize the mound shape, and the new perspectives on the social history in the region in the Early Kofun period.

This research aimed at the reconstruction of the detailed three-dimensional shape of keyhole-shaped burial mounds with the use of new technologies such as laser metrology. At first four large scale tumuli in Osaka and Okayama have been analyzed and established their standard designs. The use of right-angled triangles were speculated for determining slopes and the unit of measurement for length was the scale imported from China. Next, we have tried to apply this method for smaller mounds and those in other regions. A paper on the result of analyzing four tumuli and the result of newly laser-scanned mounds were published in 2018.

This research aims to clarify the gender system in the Yayoi Period focusing on the analyses of the bodily representation, which is composed of various kinds of archaeological records. The study promoted the fundamental research with regard to the bodily representation from Western and Eastern Japan in the Early and Middle Yayoi Period, and the representation including tattoo in the Late Yayoi Period. Moreover, as a result of analysis, it is clarified that the representation of a pair consisting of a man and woman is recognized diachronically in the Yayoi Period. Simultaneously, it is sure that the independent or non-gendered representation also existed through the Yayoi period. In conclusion, this research presents a perspective that the heteronormative effect produced by artefacts is not universal in the Yayoi society.

A Study of Gender Structure in the Kofun Period as Reflected in the Human-shaped Haniwa Figurines

This research clarifies the gender structure of the Kofun period through an analysis of the human-shaped haniwa figurines of the fifth to sixth centuries A. D. Haniwa is a general term that refers to ceramic funerary sculptures on mounted tombs(kofun) of the Kofun period. This research(1) gathers data on the human-shaped haniwa figurines of eastern and western Japan ;(2) makes detailed observations of their bodily representations ;(3) presents studies of the gendered process by analyzing the bodily attributes of the haniwa figurines excavated from each tumulus ; and(4) studies the gender structure of the Kofun period through a comparative analysis of these case studies. As a result, this research brings to light a feature of the gendered process in the Kofun period : The competitive gendered processes of heteronormativity and anti-heteronormativity generated the bodily representations of the human-shaped haniwa figurines. Additionally, this research advances the theory and practice of a queer archaeological approach in Japanese archaeology.

Three-dimensional data of archaeological sites and monuments such as burial mounds, a stone chamber and a stone coffin were obtained, proceeded and archived on the field of Tsukuriyama(Zozan) tomb, Okayama-city, the fourth largest mound in Japan, some tombs in the vicinity and another Tsukuriyama(Sakuzan) tomb, Soja-city. Surrounding moats and ramparts of Tsukuriyama(Zozan) tomb have been identified for the first time through our excavations of Tsukuriyama(Zozan) tomb. At Senzoku tomb, some severe damage of the carved ornaments of the stone chamber was exposed and since then rescue operations were conducted by the Educational Board of Okayama-city. Based on newly obtained digital data of burial mounds, we can promote the research of construction design of Keyhole-shaped burial mounds.

弥生時代から古墳時代における刀剣副葬に関する集成的研究

平成18年度は、年度当初に立てた計画に沿い、(1)刀剣副葬墳墓・古墳に関する発掘調査報告書をもとにした資料集成、(2)資料調査、(3)これまでの資料集成・資料調査に基づく考察を行った。とくに、平成18年度は本課題に関する研究の最終年度にあたるため、各種の継続作業を遂行するとともに、これまでの研究成果を総括することを目標とした。
資料集成については、まず特定地域を対象とした集成として、北部九州及び韓半島を中心とする集成作業を進めた。また、特定テーマに基づく集成として、昨年度に引き続き、弥生時代後期から古墳時代前期の資料、及び古墳時代後期の装飾付大刀に関する集成を実施した。
資料調査に関しては、良好な状態で刀剣が副葬されていた関東・甲信越地方の資料について実施した。資料調査においては、刀剣の観察とあわせて、現地における墳墓・古墳の踏査を行い、遺物と遺構の両面から総合的に資料に関する歴史的評価を行うよう努めた。
考察については、上記の作業と並行しつつ、これまで蓄積してきたデータに関する分析を行った。その結果、集成対象とした地域における、刀剣の副葬方法からみた地域間の関係に関する整理が可能となった。また、弥生時代後期から古墳時代前期の刀剣については、副葬方法の地域色に関して、当該期の時代性のなかで再評価することが可能となった。古墳時代後期の装飾付大刀の副葬方法に関する分析では、韓半島と日本列島との比較研究を実施し、両者の差異と共通性に関する分析を進めた。なお、研究成果の一部については、平成18年7月に刊行された拙著(『身体表現の考古学』青木書店)において反映させた。
