2年度目となる2021年度は、本研究課題の主要な資料である人名録テキストを分析するための枠組みを設定することを目標とし、各地域の人名録に書かれる内容・構造・特徴的な表現や収録される母集団の位置づけを明らかにするとともに、それらに適したタグ付けの方法を検討した。
作業過程において、人名録作者はどのようにして各人物に関する情報を集めることができたのか、そしてその情報源は何に基づくものであるかという問いを立て検討した。その結果、人名録の情報が少なからず、学問修得において弟子が師からもらう免状（イジャーザ）に依拠していることが明らかとなった。タグ付けの指針については、数多くの人物を扱う際の一義的なIDをどのようにつけるかといった問題や、複雑な血縁・婚姻関係をどのようにタグ付けすればよいかなどについても議論された。さらに、テキストの情報に依拠して個と個のつながりを復元していくことで浮かび上がるコネクティビティは、どの程度現実のコネクティビティを反映しているのかという問いが立てられ、現在もその問いに対する考察が進められている。具体的には、20世紀後半以降の博士論文の謝辞からコネクティビティを復元し、実際の学問的発展とどのような相関関係があるかについての検証を行う。
この他、計画していたとおり、デジタル・ヒューマニティーズ的手法の習得を目指すハンズオンセミナーを開催し、本研究課題の関係者のみならず、大学や分野を超えて、多くの参加者を得た。ハンズオンセミナーで扱った内容は、手書き文字の自動認識ソフトウェアであるTranskribus、関係性の記述方法であるResource Description Framework、地理情報システム（GIS）、Text Encoding Initiative (TEI）である。 -

本研究の目的は、インドにおける存在一性論の継承を明らかにすることにある。イブン・アラビーによって唱えられた存在一性論がインドにどのように伝わり、なぜアフマド・スィルヒンディーによって批判されるに至ったかについて、本研究ではデジタル・ヒューマニティーズの手法を用いながら検証している。存在一性論の継承を検証するにあたり、外的条件として師弟関係や書物を通じて存在一性論に接したことが確認できるか、内的条件として著書に存在一性論についての言及があるかを基準とした。基準を定量化することができれば、思想の継承について汎用性のある検証方法を確立することができるため、思想史の研究手法の発展に大きく貢献することになる。
当初の研究計画では、今年度はインドの存在一性論者の原典分析を行う予定であった。しかし、海外渡航が制限されて写本調査などが行えないことが見込まれたため、存在一性論の継承を考察するためのデータベースを作成することにした。他の研究者にも利用できるような形で、これまでの研究成果を提供することを目指し、探索機能付き試験版データベースをインターネット上で公開した。この試験版データベースにおいては、外的条件となるデータを3つの関係に分類して収録した。1つめは直接的な師弟関係、２つめは友人などの対等な関係、３つめは書物などを通じた間接的な関係である。この分類の妥当性については、内的条件として仮定した著書における特徴語の頻度などとの相関を考察していくことで検証し、修正していく予定である。 -
