    AE (Acoustic Emission) techniques are universally used for investigating and watching the deformation and crack of various materials because they enable the non-destructive and continuous measurement. However, it is not always easy to clarify the main cause or mechanism of AE signal generation by its analysis and an AE sensor is generally vulnerable to the noise, and therefore advanced measurement and estimation techniques of AE signal are needed. In this paper, the authors present time-frequency visualization of AE signal using the wavelet transform. The proposed method enables especially precise measurement of the frequency band and generation time of AE signal and gives a clue in advanced AE techniques.

    本年度の研究実績概要は以下の通りである。
    1)REBCO超伝導コイルのための熱、応力、電磁界連成シミュレーション手法を開発した。遮蔽電流により、フープ応力が予想より大きく1GPaを超えることがあることが報告されている。それを確認するために、遮蔽電流・応力計算が盛んに行われている。本研究では、コイル変形よる遮蔽電流の低減を明らかにした。しかしそれでも、REBCOテープ線の応力は、塑性領域まで高まることが示され、弾性領域での計算では不十分であることを示した。そこで、新たに粒子法による塑性領域でも解析可能なシミュレーション手法を開発し、簡単なREBCOテープの応力解析を実施した。さらに、REBCOテープ線を複数枚バンドルすることで、安定性が向上し、かつ無絶縁巻線技術の弱点である励磁遅れも改善できることを示した。
    2)誘導電流低減の電磁機構“Magnetic Dam”を提案してきた。超伝導コイルの内側と外側に、メインコイルから絶縁された無絶縁巻線超伝導巻線を数ターン配置することで、大幅に誘導電流を低減できることを明らかにしてきたが、応力などによる超伝導特性の低下が起きないかなどの諸問題をシミュレーションにより検討した。
    3)無絶縁巻線技術を施したREBCOコイルの安定性は、ターン間の接触抵抗の大きさに依存している。しかし、ターン間接触抵抗の効果的な測定方法がなかったので、低周波交流電流を用いる新しい方法を提案してきた。該当年度は、異なる周波数の交流電流特性を広く測定し、電流の流れ方をピックアップコイルで計測し、提案手法の妥当性などを検証してきた。併せて、シミュレーションを実施することで実験結果の検証に取り組んできた。
    4)無絶縁REBCOマグネット用の新しいフラックス・ポンプの開発として、プロトタイプコイルの設計を実施してきた。そして、テスト用のREBCOダブルパンケーキを実際に製作した。

    本研究では,磁気共鳴装置である小型NMR Relaxometryと小型MRI装置の開発を行っており,本年度の研究実績は次のようになる。
    ① 小型NMR Relaxometry用マグネットの開発:静磁場源として高温超伝導バルク体と次世代高温超伝導線材によるマグネットを提案し,昨年から発生磁場強度を1.5 Tから3 Tまで引き上げて検討している。伝導冷却運転方式を採用して,運転温度を40 Kに想定した電磁場数値解析による高温超伝導バルク体マグネットの形状設計を行った。次世代高温超伝導線材についても発生磁場強度を3 Tまで引き上げるための形状最適化を行った。次世代線材によるNMR Relaxometry用マグネットの形状設計においては,磁場均一度に大きく影響する遮蔽電流分布が考慮できる解析プログラムを開発した。
    ②人指用小型MRIマグネットの開発:磁場強度が3Tの人指用MRI装置の開発を行っている。MRI用静磁場源としては高温超伝導バルク体と次世代高温超伝導線材による2種類のマグネット形状設計を行った。臨界電流密度が異なる複数のリング形状の高温超伝導バルク体を組み合わせることで,直径20 mmと高さ10 mmの撮影空間で磁場強度3Tと空間均一度が200 ppmのマグネット形状を設計することができた。次世代高温超伝導線材による小型MRI用マグネット設計においては,分散型遺伝的アルゴリズムと2次元FEMを併用した数値解析プログラムを開発して形状設計解析を行った。
    ③NMR/MRI信号検出装置の開発:検出コイルと励磁(送信),駆動回路についてデジタル式とアナログ式の2種類の信号測定回路を同時に検討しており,MRI装置に必要な2種類の傾斜磁場コイルの形状設計を行い,銅線と銅箔による傾斜磁場コイルを試作し,その性能について実験的に検討した。

    The Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage (SMES) device has the feature of a long lifetime and instantaneous response of large power. However, the storage density is much inferior to that of Li-ion batteries and the like. Therefore, with the aim of ultra-high magnetic field and ultra-high storage density (600 kWh / m 3) of high-temperature superconducting coil for SMES, the feasibility of ultra-high storage density SMES by applying "Super-YOROI" high-strength coil support structure and "interlayer electric resistance control technology" which realizes both high current density and high thermal stability, has been evaluated and verified by numerical analyses.

    In this research, an experimental and analytical studies were carried out to develop a magnetic field source with small size and high performance of magnetic field (high magnetic field strength, high magnetic field uniformity and high time stability). The proposed magnetic field sources using high temperature superconducting (HTS) wires and bulks were cooled by liquid nitrogen and without any need of power supply after excitation. As a result, we succeeded in designing the HTS magnet which can generate a high performance magnetic field with reducing the amount of use of HTS wire because the cost of HTS wire is still very expensive, and the magnetic field source by stacked HTS bulks was successfully designed and fabricated. We can say that it is possible to obtain the NMR signal using the fabricated magnetic field sources.

    Recently the high magnetic fields are useful in many medicine applications such as a culture of man’s bone or cell. So, the techniques for magnetic field concentration are very important, and the novel electromagnets and trapped HTS bulk magnets have been fabricated and used in the cell culture and the magnetic drug delivery system (MDDS). In these applications, not only the strength of magnetic field but also the magnetic control ability including ON/OFF field switching are needed to enlarge the medicinal effects. On the other hand, superconductors have a perfect conduction and diamagnetism properties. High temperature superconducting (HTS) bulks have a strong diamagnetism and pinning force to trap the magnetic flux. So, in this study, a new field control method using the ring shaped HTS bulk with slit configuration was proposed, and we found that the HTS bulk with slit did control the applied magnetic field, and amplified magnetic fields were obtained at slit parts of HTS bulks.

    The Hall sensor is very convenient magnetic sensor for measuring current density in a non-destructive and contactless way. It is widely used to estimate the current density distribution or the magnetic properties of superconducting material, and many measurement methods using Hall sensor have been reported In order to realize a highly functional measuring system with real time and high spatial resolution, and to estimate properties of superconducting film with complex structure or pattern, it is very important to develop a novel Hall sensor array with small size, plane structure and two or three axis. Recently, the new LSI manufacture technology combining with bonding technology such as system on chip (SoC), system in package (SiP) has been developed Using this technology, the highly functional semiconductor devices with new structure, small size and low cost can be realized Therefore, we developed a two-axis Hall sensor array using epitaxial liftoff (ELO) film bonding technology. The Hall sensor array was fabricated on the Si substrate with plane structure and ran measure directly axial and radial magnetic field components. And we have been developing the magnetic field measurement and visualization system with Hall sensor probes to study the critical current density distribution or magnetic properties of high temperature superconducting films.

    1. Transient stability of multi-strand superconducting cables
    We developed a computer code based on 3D funite element method and a distributed circuit to simulate transient behaviors of three- strand superconducting cables such as temperature evolution in strand and cables, and current distribution among strands in quench process. Especially, we focused on the effect of cupper matrix on the transient stability. From these results obtained for the term of this project, the guideline for the design and development of highly stabilized superconducting cables for AC use.
    2. Development of superconducting cylindrical linear induction motor
    We have designed and constructed a model cylindrical linear induction motor (SCLIM) with superconduting primary windings to clarify the behaviors (AC loss, stability and so on) of AC superconducting windings in a realistic operational environment of electrical rotating machines. The fundamental operational properties such as thrust characteristic and the electro-magnetic and mechanical phenomena in the superconducting windings were investigated. And we optimized the current distribution in primary windings to enhance the thrust characteristic and proposed a newly quench protection circuit for a realistic operation of superconducting electrical machines.
    3. Stability Criterion for Cryocooler-cooled HTS Coils
    Magnet technology of high-temperature superconductor (HTS) with conduction cooling system by GM cryocooler have been advanced. We have measured the quench characteristics of HTS tapes (Bi-2223/Ag, Bi2212/Ag tapes) with conduction cooling system by GM cryocooler and developed a computer program based on the finite element to investigate the thermal and electromagnetic behaviors within HTS tapes. Using the simulation code, we discussed a stability criterion for cryocooler-cooled HTS coils. The current at which "thermal runaway" occurs, depends on the relationship between the cooling power of GM cryocooler and heat generation within HTS coils, is chosen as a stability criterion. We also investigate the transient thermal and electromagnetic behaviors in HTS coils during a quench process to determine the thermal and current margin in a realistic operation.

    1. Numerical cord for simulation of transient stability of multi-strand superconducting cables : We developed some computer codes to simulate transient behaviors of multi-strant cables such as current distribution among srands and temperature distribution in cables. We also developed a method for estimation of the current distribution among strands by using a pick-up coil system.
    2. Sensitive method for measurement of electrical cross contact resistance between strands : We proposed a new method adopting superconducting transformer. By this method, we could measure small cross contact resistance of about 10^<-8> OMEGA.

    1. Simulation of transition to normal state in multi-strand superconducting cables : We carried out a lot of experiments to evaluate the validity of the developod computer codes and to investigate the transient behavior of multi-strand cables in quench process. From these numerical simulations and experimental results, the influences of the material properties of superconduciting strand and the thermal effect of coolant on the transient stability became evident.
    2. Measurement of cross contact resistance of Rutherford type cables : We adopted the proposed method to measure the cross contact resistance of Rutherford cables for SSC project.

    1. Simulation of transition to normal state in multi-strand superconducting cables : We newly developed a computer code by 3D finite element analysis to investigate the temperature evolution in cross-section of a strand and to clarify the effect of copper matrix on the transient stability. From these results obtained for the term of this project, the guideline for the design and development of highly stabilized superconducting cables for AC use.
    2. Measurement of cross contact resistance of Rutherford type cables : We investigated the influences of curing temperature and pressure on the cross contact resistance of Ratherford cables.
