    総合大学の全学共通教育の英語科目は多様な受講生を想定していることから，一部の分野に特化することのない一般的な教授内容で構成されることが多い。そのため，通常，学習者のニーズ分析は行われない。しかし，動機づけと継続的英語学習支援の観点から学習者ニーズの把掴は重要であるため，筆者らは，共通教育英語科目の受講者を対象としたニーズ分析に着手した。本稿では，ニーズ分析に用いるアンケートの24個の調査項目（記述文）の作成過程，ならびに，それらの記述文を検証するために行ったパイロット調査について報告する。パイロット調査では， 43 人の大学生が実際に記述文に回答した。その結果，記述文に大きな間題がないことを示した。

    This paper presents the findings of a follow-up survey on English learning motivation for firstyear university students majoring in Policy Studies in rural Japan (N=194). It also depicts the changes in motivation, and the factors underpinning English learning motivation, before and after one year of study at university. The participants' changes are reported in relation to the five groups reported in Moritani and Manning (2016) as well as the overall motivational changes. The findings suggest that more motivated participants at the beginning of the course decreased their motivation, while relatively less motivated students maintained their previous levels. Some motivational variables shifted toward a central standard for all participants. The authors argue that students may be subconsciously adjusting to meet a community standard, not only as learners of English, but also as university students.

    This paper reports on an exploratory study that aimed to depict English learning motivational dispositions of first- and second-year university students in a rural area in Japan. This study partially replicates a previous study by Papi and Teimouri (2014). Motivational dispositions were obtained using a questionnaire, which was created within the framework of the L2 Motivational Self System (Dörnyei, 2005). The results showed that the students' overall motivational dispositions tended to be instrumentally oriented. Follow-up cluster analysis extracted five more homogeneous subgroups and revealed a relatively small number of students who were highly motivated and susceptible to demotivation.

    This paper reports on a pilot study involving 15 university students who participated in a four-week study abroad program in Hawaii. It monitors students' motivation to learn English before and after the program. Motivational changes were depicted within the framework of the L2 Motivational Self System (Dörnyei, 2005) and the related affective factors. The result showed the applicability of the L2 Motivational Self System to describe how L2 learning motivation changed. Change occurred to their ideal L2 self, L2 confidence, and integrativeness, while L2 anxiety showed no change. The paper concludes with pedagogical suggestions for how to maintain students' ideal L2 self after short-term study abroad programs.

    指導者に求められる英語力に焦点を絞ったアンケート調査を実施し、千葉県、熊本県、愛知県の公立小学校の教員総計418名の意識を探った。回答の分析から、指導に求められる英語力のレベルの査定には、指導の目的、自身の英語力の査定、望まれる指導形態等が関与していることが判明した。また『英語ノート指導資料』中の指導者言の分析を行い、『英語ノート』を使用して英語活動を実施する際に想定されている英語の特徴を抽出した。
